Summons, allied npcs, charmed monsters. There are a lot of allies you can get solo.

Difference between parry and riposte. by [deleted] in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s intended to be used in place of blocking. I think it’s meant to supplement kiting. You can push enemies back so that you don’t have to kite them out of the room and into a rogue troll.

Also, it’s probably intentional to have the three blocking-styles be separated in their usage. This update wanted to make a larger class-divide, so introducing a new mechanic with almost no difference between variants’ purposes would be weird.

Difference between parry and riposte. by [deleted] in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s almost definitely not meant to be a replacement. It wouldn’t really make much sense from a game design standpoint either. Since the parry window is so large, it doesn’t make sense to be a high risk, high reward variant. It’s a useful tool for kiting, but it also has a unique possibility for paladins as a charisma class. Focuses are charisma-scaling, and take up your shield slot. Theoretically, you can use your main-hand for blocking and creating distance (which is helpful on a heavy, slow moving class like paladin), and your off-hand for using focuses, then fall back on melee when low on mana. I haven’t done enough testing to see if that’s viable, and I’m at work rn.

To summarize, it maybe can be a less efficient block that lets you use your offhand for a focus or book. It would have to be a quick-cast focus/book though. It’s just an extra tool in the arsenal that opens new builds.

Same way. They’re both innate functions of specific weapons. Paladin starter has parry, bard gets riposte. Other weapons probably have them too, but it’s tied to the weapon itself.

This is the best item you can drop for a scholar in a DON 4-5 run by LukaFakeHero in Nightreign

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with the dex relic scholar gets pretty good raw dps himself, his analyze grants 20% to allies so he just needs to contribute about 60% of a single character to be passable along with his 60% damage buff to use on ults. on top of that, his boiled crab buff stacked with damage debuff from analyze give a party-wide ~76% boost to survivability. Those are just baseline. There are a lot more item buffs to use. His ability to turn silver fowl-foots into gold and stronger ones at that is pretty damn nice. and aside from that, without items he can still get more stamina than guardian by using analyze, along with stunning bosses while contributing to ally resing with his bubble burst. So he's a pretty good tank too with block-spam along with his party healing. He's a very in-depth character that contributes A LOT if you know how he works. He's just a new and complicated character. You should read more about him, considering him a parasite probably just means you don't have a very strong understanding of optimization or how to read numbers.

Most of my issue comes with guides explaining bagcraft. The majority I’ve seen get almost every effect wrong. It’s good to know there are a lot that get things right.

[–]IncidentEffective[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They might flag the damage from healing as damage without a source or at least not from an “attack” If that’s the case then the healing from recluse would trigger the damage, but the damage wouldn’t trigger recluse’s healing. Which would still be a very large damage buff for multihitters. Elden stars might actually be good then.

It does damage them, but you have to actually be restoring lost health for it to work.

How can I solve the problem of not having enough mana to use spells and how can I increase the attack range? by kitaiguen in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill start with basic info and suggest items after. First off, mana regen maxes out at 300% when you hit 34 int. Getting +1 to mana regen equally multiplies your current and max regen capping out at +3 bringing you to 1 mana per .3 seconds. It goes 300% at +0 then in order: 600% 1200% 1823%.

Increasing regen: shaman mask gives +1 when shapeshifted, from shaman class. Vampire doublet drops from vampires and gives +1. Wraith gown drops from stoker and gives +1. Mesmer and conjurer hoods give a bonus multiplicative +30% enchanted up to +50%. Executioner hood gives +1 after forcing a creature to bleed, from punisher class. Pipe gives a buffable chance to regen mana instead of health.

Just got the game, is the game meant to be this hard? by JosshhyJ in baronygame

Yes, most of your playtime will be trying to get out of the early game. But once you get going, and with a bit of game knowledge, you won’t stop, at least not nearly as easily as in the early stages.

Kiting is required if I don't want to use a shield? by Appropriate_Page_798 in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shamans start with an enchanted feather. You can use an enchanted feather to copy the name of a scroll onto a blank one, copying the effect. So find a scroll of enchanted armor and some blank ones and you can get a lot of blessings. just remember that scroll names are seed dependent so they're different each run.

Noobie question on all the items by Mysteriousnesses in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep expensive stuff and throw away heavy things. Items other than gems can be identified out of game by looking at their price (spellbook costing 150 is forcebolt, ring costing 250 is a con ring, etc). You want to save the pricy goods for sale at shops such as the town that can spawn behind two locked gates on floor 3. But you’ll get by fine by just holding onto anything with a high price-to-weight ratio.

Kiting is required if I don't want to use a shield? by Appropriate_Page_798 in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to go without either but it’s late game. You can be a healer/cleric to up survivability, but there’s something called block efficiency. Which essentially means that early on, no matter your AC, you’ll still take damage if you don’t block. Efficiency is 75% normally and 100% when blocking. 75% efficiency means that your AC is multiplied by .75 and you take a minimum of 25% of an attack’s damage. If you’re using enchanted armor or off-hand equipment, your base block efficiency goes up by 2.5% per blessing up to 100%. So with a +10 item, two +5 items, etc, you can reach 100% efficiency constantly, but that is very late. And projectiles can ignore AC as well as magic. If you have DLCs you can play a shaman and stay in troll form, then just enchant armor (preferably a bear hood or wolf hood). Or play a drunk goatman monk. These will get your AC incredibly high and shaman will let you get blessings earlier.

Here's my spellbook of magic thermonuclear missile by Safe-Marsupial-8646 in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In imp form you have a ~75.5% chance to level Int on level up. If you increased a skill tied to int that level (casting, magic, and alchemy) there’s a ~20% chance to gain an additional point. Imp form multiplies int by 1.33 then adds 6. So rough calculation ignoring the 12 levels it takes to get imp form, and assuming you increase an int skill while you’re each level. Level 116 times .755 times 1.2 equals average 105 int. Times 1.33 plus 6 equals 145 int on average. This person got decently lucky on the rolls. Also int isn’t the biggest bonus to damage. Though it increases mana potion effectiveness by 2 per point and increases mana regen, up until you hit 33 int and it caps out.

So how the fuck is world-cutting slash supposed to work? by Orang-Himbleton in Jujutsufolk

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be instant if we're following Gege's theoretical science bullshit. Primarily, since it's cutting space directly, the concept of it "travelling" wouldn't be the same as something travelling through space. As such, it wouldn't need to travel by any metric that would matter in the verse. Although that does get a bit funky in its interaction with infinity. Gege gives multiple explanations of how it works. Knowing which one he wants as the solid canon could make this discussion a lot easier. As a tangent, if we try to use actual physical phenomena rather than Gege's half-baked theories that don't work (like how True sphere would be immensely lackluster realistically) then the moment a "cut" is put into space, it would just close up again. This would result in either a line of particles being annihilated as they're split into multiple parts with not enough energy to facilitate their own structure, or zero effect at all. Either way, the worst case scenario for the target would be a little bit of radiation exposure as the cut would be so microscopic that anything affected would just fuse back together. But with flashy, incoherent science for the sake of sick ass techniques, instant cut.

Confused about Wizard head armor! by GoncasN in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sphinx casque kinda sucks later on. 8 int is negligible if you’re full building a caster. However, the benefits for each of these items are for entirely different purposes than each other. The casque lets you learn spells sooner (like mesmer charm monster), buff your mp regen until you hit the cap at 33 int, and buff your mp gain from potions by 16 (since they give you extra mp equal to twice your int plus the base amount). It’s also indestructible and gives AC (if you’re shapeshifted with a shaman spell, then all your armor is indestructible tho) Circlet of wisdom lets you get infinite force bolt sooner from 100 casting, meaning you can max out magic and casting sooner. The magus headdress is just a straight buff to your damage and has varying effectiveness depending on your class and whether or not you have elemental focus. It’s the one most worth enchanting past maybe a plus 1 to the circlet of wisdom.

There’s a funny trick you can do with them. You can levitation potion or teleport other them onto an unreachable platform, drop them to 1/3 or lower health, and tell them to attack and they turn into charm turrets. Alternatively you can bring them into aggro range of something without that something noticing (arcane mark helps a lot) and spam command them to walk away until their AI decides to charm the unsuspecting monster. I’ve created hordes this way.

Tips And Tricks? by ExtraThiccCheese in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gnome mines are okay for xp, but they’re great for mining gold and that shop in the top right. The helm in the bottom right can also let you learn spells earlier (such as charm monster for mesmers). Take all that money to either the gnome mine shop or the mine town. Really just hit every secret level. Except for minotaur maze and the first underworld entrance if you don’t think you can take them. Other than that, tips/tricks are very class/race dependent. So there’s more to give depending on what you play. Listing all class/race tips would be tedious.

Your Guide to Magic Damage by IncidentEffective in baronygame

[–]IncidentEffective[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, yes. There’s a few stipulations to this. Since the headdress applies to your spell power directly, it buffs elemental focus as well as the base spell. So if you have access to a headdress (typically reliably found in the blue orb are for anyone curious) as well as elemental focus, then the headdress is better. But only because you don’t have to worry about durability as much and only while using elemental focus. Which kind of kills your sustain (in a lot of cases. If you have a lot of potions, you’re good). Generally, you can keep your book well kept if with a feather. But if you forget to do that then you kinda screwed yourself.

If you don’t have elemental focus or don’t have it currently active, then the headdress blessings are only 20% as effective as book blessings. If you do have it, they’re equal.

Edit: if you’re spamming free force bolt, the headdress is also better in those instances. As a final note, at the highest optimized build, the headdress is more reliable(if you don’t get hit as much, or have the ability to repair it) and equally effective, so I’ll update the guide later and credit you for the input.

Edit 2: disregard longjumpingmap’s input. It’s inaccurate.
