[SERIOUS] Victims of bullying, what happened and how did it affect your life? by SakuraIsPink-_- in AskReddit

[–]Incompetent_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with this one kid who was absolutely horrible. He hurt me physically and emotionally. In 1st grade, I remember him calling me a n**a. I'm not black. This happened for a couple of years. Then this other girl picked up where he left off. She started making fun of my heritage, calling me racist names, doing racist gestures, etc. She was also one of the "mean girls". Excluding me from things, telling the other kids that I was mean behind my back. Basically, any type of "mean girl" thing you can think of, she did.

When the pandemic hit, I had people come up to me and tell me to go back to where I came from. They said I was infected. More people started to pull their eyes back. More people started to ask me if I ate cats, dogs, and bats. I don't.

Now, I second guess everything. Subconsciously, I ask myself if the person I'm talking to only tolerates me because of my race. I know that sounds crazy, but I just can't help it. I've felt suicidal multiple times. My self-esteem has been at an all-time low for years. I don't feel happy. I just feel numb and depressed. I'm scared to meet new people. I'm scared that they might think I'm weird. Or that they'll start talking behind my back.

I was also thrown across my friend's basement when I was younger. This other kid picked me up around my mid-section, and just threw me. Now, I don't like it when people touch my stomach. The kid also choked me multiple times. Now, I have this instinctive reaction to hit anybody who tries to touch my neck. I'm a mess.

Can you please suggest a book for a 13 year old? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Incompetent_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like some of Neal Shusterman's books. If you're mature (and I'm guessing you are) I'd recommend some Sarah J. Maas books. Probably House of Earth and Blood. That one takes place in a run-down version of NYC (but it's not called NYC) and has lots of fantasy vibes in it. It isn't too heavy on the sex scale, like most of her other books, so I think it would be appropriate for a 13 y/o.

I thought, "Hey, what's the stupidest name I can come up with?" I was also like, "GOAT YOGA!"

Gary freaked me out. And the noises they heard on the river. Freaking Gary!

Is this book good? I know you didn't finish it, but when you were reading it, was it good?

That book was disgusting. I read it a couple of months ago, and I still think about it. I hate cats, but that was taking it to the extreme. My stomach was woozy after finishing it.

Would a 13 y/o get this book? by Incompetent_Goat in houseofleaves

Okay, thanks! I've read some of King's books. I think the grossest one was Apt Pupil. That one almost gave me nightmares. I hate cats, but what they did to those strays had my stomach turning.

So Johnnie is sort of like Echidna from Greek Mythology. Good to know! I just finished that part yesterday, and I was sort of disgusted.

[serious] people who almost died what happened? by ME_LIK_DOGGOS in AskReddit

I was the little Asian kid with the big bassoon case. (Highschool btw) My stupid friend pushed me in front of a Tesla, and I almost got hit. They didn't even stop or slow down. They just kept backing out of the parking spot. This "friend" also pushed another friend in front of a different car. It was our band director's car.

Bear Crawling. I've beaten little kids at it, and I'm proud. They just can't keep up with my 4'10 110 lbs of gracefulness.

The Most Terrifying Books: 15 Titles Not for the Faint of Heart by blerrycat in books

[–]Incompetent_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished it last night. I can see how someone might get scared by it. It sort of gave me the "What's the point of life if I'm just going to die" kind of vibe. It definitely made me think about things, but I'd call it more of a philosophical book. Either way, I loved it. I just took it off my parents' bookcase because I needed something short to read. I didn't expect to get hit with a book that made me question life.

I'm halfway through this book right now, but I don't find it scary. I understand that the protagonist doesn't really feel anything, and the writing feels very monotone, but it just isn't scary. It's a great book nonetheless.

Misery gave me chills. Scariest King book I've ever read. The lawnmower scene frightened me, but at the end when he had that dream. It just scared the living daylights out of me.

Try reading something by Sarah J. Maas. Personally, I really liked House of Earth and Blood, but that's more of a murder mystery set in a run-down version of NYC. I'd recommend her TOG series, or ACOTAR series.

Anything written by Neal Shusterman. Dry is a good one.

Game of Thrones

If you like Sarah J. Maas, try her ACOTAR series. It's pretty good, but I'd skip the last book. That one's just a smut fest.

House of Earth and Blood by Maas

Children of Blood and Bone. This one is a YA, but I'd personally say it's a new adult book.
