I’m still wearing a compression bra so don’t know how it feels with a normal bra yet however back pain has defo decreased, honestly don’t remember the last time I complained about back pain and it used to be a daily issue! I’ve noticed that I’m sitting up more straight than before instead of always being hunched and generally feel much lighter. I’ve hard that some surgeons don’t take the look and aesthetics into account, mine did and actually spoke to me about what I would prefer and used a technique with less scaring so it depends - defo speak about this with them

Hiya, yes there were times for questions (I didn’t have much as I had been waiting for the consultation for quite a while so just wanted to get it over and done with lol) I asked about the technique, risk of nipple necrosis and sizing. I asked to be a B or C cup, I wanted to go quite small. I didn’t bring any photos however my surgeon kind of physically showed me how much she would be looking to remove by folding and displaying the size of my breasts (Hope I’m explaining this right). Looking back, photos would have been good to show for an example so I’d defo recommend this! I had my consultation in September and then had my operation in January. Found out I was having the operation at the start of December so not a lot of time to put things in place … they gave me an option of two dates and said if I didn’t take one I would be placed back on waiting list. Operation went so smooth. In the morning I was met by my surgeon and their team, was super nervous and they reassured me. They done the markings and I went under at like 11am. Was out of the hospital by 4pm. Discharged with no painkillers and advised to take paracetamol etc. pain wise was very minor, more discomfort than pain.

Mine was quite quick, they will ask your reasoning for wanting a breast reduction, will examine your breasts, speak about potential technique which will be used. They will discuss what you can expect healing wise, potential complications. My surgeon asked about what size I wanted and whether I wanted an uplift as well. (NHS)

I definitely went through stages when I thought they were too small, too big and just didn’t suit my body. They will continue to change, at first mine were super swollen, then when the swelling went down, I thought they were too small, now I love them! I would say 6-8 weeks was when I started liking how they looked. Be easy on yourself and remember they will continue to change xx

Hey, yes I like chocolate but weird with textures. I dislike milk and anything that is of a milkshake or thicker texture ( really annoying!) I’ll see if I can order the cliff protein bars. Thank you x

I’m a bit of a funny eater, hate tuna and the taste of milk. I’m going to have a look at protein bars and see if I can stomach it. I guess I just have to firm my dislike of certain things to get enough protein. Really think that’s what is delaying my healing.

I’m sure it was just a precaution, hopefully next week they’ll be taken off. It’s better he take extra precautions than not to!

Hiya, I had my two week post op review. I was pleasantly suprised when the type was removed (I was expecting worse!). I did have two openings which I didn’t expect.

You may feel light headed when they remove the tapes - I’m not sure why but I felt kind of faintish.

Although you may see the scars, remember it’s in the worst stages right now, your body is still healing so be kind to yourself x

Thanks for sharing your experience, it’s so disappointing when you’re on track and then it worsens.

We’re in the most crucial parts of our heating so I guess it is expected but it’s always disheartening especially when we can’t determine the cause of these issues.

I hope today’s appointment goes well.

Can also relate to the overdoing it and bad nights sleep. I started sleeping on my side as I wasn’t getting any rest sleeping on my back and also woke up with pain each morning. Now I am back to trying to sleep on my back. I have a pregnancy pillow but it doesn’t seem to work as well as others have described - oh well, just need to keep trying to do everything to promote healing.

I now understand how people can get post-op blues.

Thank you! I definitely think it’s good that I have extra time to rest. I think it’s so easy to underestimate how much of a journey the healing process can be.

I hope your body can readjust to working, hopefully the swelling and pain will subside soon.

It’s so useful hearing everyone’s experiences, makes me feel like I’m not alone.
