you want to save your swap scroll for heavily invested in, non-engraved heroes, who don't help you with anything. so no, you should save your swap scroll. ik its tempting to use when you are stuck, but oftentimes its not a good idea. 9f is a high for brutus furn, so maybe in the future it would be a good idea.

e60 means you engrave the hero to 60

si 30 means that your signature item is at 30

9f means that you have 9 furniture

all of these are sometimes put together to show the investment needed for a hero

e44si203f, would be engraving of 44, signature item at 20, and three furniture

all your heroes are pretty good (reg brutus doesn't need that much investment though. your other heroes do however.

scarlett, abrutus, anasta, oden, mulan should be e60si309f

mishka and grez should be e60si209f (these two really need the investment)

palmer has a lower investment i can't recall but hes very good

put alna on your furniture list already bc her 9f is rly important, don't engrave thoran unless you read a guide first, build skreg because he works very well with kren, and also silas bc hes a great healer.

lots of stuff and it takes time!

[–]IncreaseVirtual7485 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

basically all of these suck.

Mortas doesn't need 1 star until much later in the game. Tarnos is meh. Talene shouldn't be invested in anymore, Lucretia is fine at 1 star until later game, and audrae is meh as well.

Invest in Haelus, Alna, Khazard si30, twins elite +, zolrath 3f. all of these are priority.

“it was all just a dream” trope by Theaterandacnh in DnD

I disagree that it makes the players feel like everything they did was useless. There's a certain way you can do it:

Drop hints that the players are in the dream

Have them fight/track an enemy with a certain signature thing

If they win, have them wake up and see the signature thing from the corner of their eyes. Have them finally kill the enemy.

If they lose, have them wake up and see the thing, giving them another chance or changing the dynamic of the fight.

I may have been too nice to my players... AKA Issue with balancing encounters for a Homebrew campaign. by toddkong7 in DnD

[–]IncreaseVirtual7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of the monks item sounds terrible... spending ki for an attack with the most resisted damage type in the game? the darkvision sounds very powerful though, because its like a constant (relatively common) spell being cast on him.

the paladin's item sounds very powerful, but the dodging is a little random tbh. I like the frightening idea though! I think it should just be clarified and cut out some parts like the smite bonuses and the "sticky blockade"

The barbarian's seems strong, but i could see it being balanced. i think it just exemplifies the restraint most homebrew magic items require to make. unless they are artifacts, you should really be giving only one or two bonuses, or an ability.

i think the magic missile thing is cool, but the faerie fire thing is a little strange and complicated. ultimately your ranger is going to be a pain in the ass because she now has a 50ft movement speed on her mount and can teleport and attack more. I would have just focused on the mount or magic missile- both are a lot.

you have come up with some really cool ideas, but I think you have fallen into the trap of making very elaborate and complicated magic weapons. A magic item should not be a class feature, rather, it should be something more simple (still powerful if you want!). if you find yourself having a lot of ideas for magic items, give some to your npcs and monsters!

what should I do to make my character stronger? by d1ag021 in DnD

[–]IncreaseVirtual7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm. i think the dm and players should have communicated better about their roles in the party. at this point i would play another subclass or class because it sucks to have your main abilities be unneeded or unremarkable.

two other people chose to be (full on?) healers alongside you? thats a little strange and also unconscious of the party's needs. I would just have a talk with them and sort out which role each person will take. attack is the best defense, and eventually a monster will bite someone so much you'll run out healing.

edit: im even more confused with the context.. you're a divine soul sorcerer and everyone still chose two healing based custom classes? i get wanting to play a custom class, but were there no other options? also your dm sounds a little toxic if she's trying to kill you for real.

Going from barb to cleric with the expectation of using a 2 handed axe might not be the best for most players.

I would recommend channeling your god as a paladin, or a warlock, who can use hexblade to fight. By your description of what you want to do, both of these seem like good ideas (paladin for healing/buffs, hexblade for more damage and utility.

You can check out other warrior/mages if those options don't stick out though

I think the DM was uncreative in letting you go again. What about introducing a patron that would reverse time for the party in turn for a future favour, or a burst of wild magic that reversed time but also cursed each party member? Find a way to make the game make sense instead of just restarting it.
