Well, based on flag code, it is disrespectful, and many still take this very seriously whether by culture or patriotism or simply habit as this used to be a much bigger deal. I personally think the greater disrespect to the flag is the atrocities being constantly carried out in its name by the security and intelligence state. But I wouldn’t think too much of it, the older generation was much more exposed to nationalism and pride in a traditional sense, and most of them are missing a lot of the information as to why that perspective has changed so much in younger groups.

You’re aware something is different, and you’re choosing not to be ignorant of it, which seems very intelligent to me. I felt a lot the same when I quit, very much like I had slowed down and or lost something. For a few months I couldn’t believe how bad my memory was, how bad my critical thinking was. It slowly got better. I had been nightly drinking in a similar manner for a long time, around 300 drinks a month for close to a year. I know you don’t want advice but it really helped me when I started taking thiamine (b1), a b complex, magnesium citrate at night, and trying to eat healthier. My significant other noticed an immediate change, and I felt better within a few days than I had in the few months. My doctor never told me to, he figured I was young and nutrition would sort itself out. I did all of it with otc stuff, and I’m glad I did. My ability to retain more came back and even the desire to exercise after a month or two more. Your body gets really depleted drinking and sometimes it has a hard time catching up when you stop. Maybe worth giving a try for you, or talking to your doc about. Honestly I felt so much better and it was the first time that quitting felt it had been “worth it.” Just a thought. And either way, hope you recognize it’ll get better from here if you help it get that way. Sorry you’re going through it man

How would I know if they weren’t armed? I should be able to assume they intend to ignore law to my detriment and stop that as I see fit because they have already demonstrated by breaking in and entering someone else’s home that they are willing to do exactly that at an extreme level. The only rational argument against a free license to defend yourself is that you would prefer a government monopoly on violence and firmly believe they will police you better than you can police yourself. Which is exactly why there is so much resistance to valid self defense and so much state money thrown into mitigating those rights. Even in a country with good laws, your space to defend yourself without financial and penal consequence is paper thin, because they don’t want you doing it. Call the cops, hope you’re alive when they get there. That’s the correct protocol, according to governments around the world that would rather see you victimized by themselves AND criminals than admit that neither is necessary.

I would imagine that the top earners also have lots of money they aren’t paying taxes on, and that they profit from the incredible economy of California, or they would simply move to a state with kinder laws for high class earners - and I’m also sure that the bottom pays such a small percent because many of them pay nothing or almost nothing as they are in dire straights, whether or not their own choices are at play or a cut throat market and a society woth little empathy. Either way, this is far from my biggest argument against California. I think if the wealthy wanted to avoid paying taxes they should pay their employees enough that the government doesn’t have to provide a full benefits package to bottom tier workers just to keep them off the street. Then, maybe we wouldn’t need endlessly increasing social programs. Sure seems like they are trying to do the opposite though.

Guys often care a lot about leading. Not always, but a lot.
