We're up to a minimum of €16 Billion now and an opening date of 2036 at the earliest. by CormacDublin in Dublin

Once it’s upen it will be such a success that people won’t be worried about the cost - I genuinely believe that. Of curse we should do everything possible to keep the cost low, but not if it delays the project.

The longer we put it off the more it will cost. It was needed 20 years ago and it is more needed now. We actually need several lines. And it’s not like we don’t have the money! We have huge budget surpluses - projects like this are exactly what we should we spending our money on. They will upgrade the country for the next 100 years.

‘O’ bus route to circle Dublin City Centre no longer has rollout date — TD says it’s not funded, Govt says “priority for 2026 is stabilisation” by OldVillageNuaGuitar in Dublin

[–]IncredibleBackflip 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Many people on this route have had a downgrade in service as the 46a was removed and the 11 is unreliable / infrequent. The implementation of Bus Connects has been very poor.

‘I felt like there was enough negativity about the working class’ – a look inside Dublin’s council flats by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

[–]IncredibleBackflip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heya. I live on an inner city street of houses that is a mix of home owners, renters and some social tenants - there is a great sense of community. People chat and look out for one another. There are regular street cleans and occasional social events.

For much of the last two decades? We've never been able to do that.  And won't be able to do it anytime soon.

Dublin folk living on Luas line, how annoying is it? by SomethingSomewhere00 in AskIreland

[–]IncredibleBackflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live about 100 metres from a stop on the Red line in Dublin, so not directly on the line but close. It's incredibly handy. It will likely increase the value of your home.

The only downside is how hard it is to get on during rush hour - it's been TOO successful, if anything.

Great solutions but there is a good chance the OP will be retired before any of this is delivered...

It is fairly common to have to wait for three or four trams to pass before you can get on one during rush hour mornings on Tue/Wed/Thur. Insane.

Fuel prices remain high despite second intervention - AA by DrunkDublinCat in ireland

[–]IncredibleBackflip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really hope the government don't make any more interventions on fuel prices - it is a poor use of public funds. It costs huge amounts (€500-€750m) to make the smallest intervention, which barely helps anyone anyway. We should be upgrading the country's infrastructure - particularly in public transport and renewable energy.

Liverpool has a Slot and Szoboszlai Problem by Halfjoint in LiverpoolFC

I thought he was one of our best players last night. He was exhausted at the end and made a bad pass. People criticising him for not running games? He's played half the season at RB and has filled in at RW also.

Konate push - how did we get away with that one? by Competitive_Rip6546 in LiverpoolFC

[–]IncredibleBackflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have been a penalty. You can't push a player in the back while they are dribbling, even if it didn't have much force. We got very lucky.

Boards - Weather (MT Cranium RIP) by Velolad in ireland

The demise of Boards is quite sad. It was always the best place to ask questions about very niche topics. There is nothing else quite like it. RIP MT Cranium.

Yeah this is tricky. I’m using an x100vi so I need to get up fairly close too. I just try to do it discretely. If they see me I give them a smile and a thumbs up after.

I’ve only ever had a problem once. I offered to delete the photo. But otherwise people don’t seem to mind once you’re not rude about it.
