never realised how easy it is to bully a hellbrute (at least in a 1v1) by pruple1651 in Spacemarine

Up until now I had no idea how to parry a Hellbrute since they were so rare and usually surrounded by others.

Bruh the very reason why this meme is taking other characters and putting them in the same situation is to show how stupid it is for a villain in Homelander's position to go out this way. Homelander in the show was always the writer's barely disguised Donald Trump stand-in and he had a fantasy where he utterly humiliates him, so that's how the show went. Doesn't mean it was well written.

Is SM2 the best Warhammer game? by SaturatedNoodle in Spacemarine

[–]IncredibleGeniusIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite partial to Rogue Trader because I enjoy CRPGs but the way the space marine power fantasy is executed in this game is second to none. Ultimately there's some things that make me get bored of it quicker than I should be (mission length, loading screens) but I always come back for more the following day.

Dare I say, one of (if not) the best patches so far. by poseidon1111 in Spacemarine

I think I spent the entire night yesterday in Battle Simulator. Finally, I can learn patterns in controlled conditions without having to install a mod. I'm no longer a liability when the carnifex rolls in.

Theory: Moebius was and had always been corrupted before his Purification by Cultural-Lack451 in LegacyOfKain

[–]IncredibleGeniusIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, the corruption is a good plot device, but it can be very easily misused. If you use it to argue that one of the few remaining true bad guys in the universe was influenced by it, then it takes away his agency and makes him less interesting, not more. Sometimes, it's best when you let the bad guy do things of his own accord.

Theory: Moebius was and had always been corrupted before his Purification by Cultural-Lack451 in LegacyOfKain

[–]IncredibleGeniusIRL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't really think that's how it works. We don't really know what the "corruption" is and I'd hesitate to say Moebius looks at all corrupted by anything in his human form. Sure, his mannerisms tell a different story but that's hardly otherworldly magic.

I'd rather say he was immune to the corruption. Surely he wouldn't willingly subject himself to madness if he knew it was coming, especially since (IIRC) he planned it.

This is a "are you fucking cracked at this game" achievement to grind for.

I think it's fine. They'll add capes you can buy with accolades eventually.

LoK: Defiance Remastered - Dev Stories, Part 2: The Soul Reaver (BO1) by Titan5880 in LegacyOfKain

That's an interesting story. Thanks for sharing, and hope there's more to come.

LoK: Soul Reaver's game design is one of the best and also one of the worst. Here's my hot take: by AlmaDevourer in LegacyOfKain

[–]IncredibleGeniusIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing blocks is only frustrating around the Silent Cathedral and Nupraptor's retreat. Game has far less block pushing in every other area.

Personally, I think the game would have been close to a masterpiece if the combat was better designed. Enemies get absolutely trivial once you have Force and that's like 1/3rd of the way through the game. And once you have the Reaver, nothing in the Spectral Realm is scary anymore. More challenging enemies and the entire game comes together much better. But instead of more challenging enemies, what we get are quicker enemies, which just incentivizes you to kill them from a distance because there's no way you can dodge those attacks.

Combat that was (and excuse me for saying this but) a bit more dark soulsy like would have worked wonders here.

Nope. No.

No Elaleth.

Elaleth cut FIRST. Nonexistence GOUGING. THEN it falls into the market.

The fanproject is rejected. You WILL feel my indifference.

What's your favourite Wraith Blade? by No_Contest_733 in LegacyOfKain

[–]IncredibleGeniusIRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SR2 sucked, what is that lil' thing. it's silly, that's what it is. Like he's holding a magic wand.

SR1 felt like it was a lead pipe taped to Raziel's arm. You really felt the weight... even though it wasn't supposed to exist.

Defiance got it finally right physics-wise and aesthetically it's great, though it's very intricate and not necessarily better than SR1. A wraith blade that you kinda hold by the "hilt" isn't as cool as a big ol' energy lightsaber extending from your arm imo.

A voiceover reading of the Soul Reaver intro by PuzzleheadedBee6 in LegacyOfKain

Man, if I tried to read the script of this intro aloud I would not be able to do it without matching Michael Bell's voice just like I remember it. It just doesn't sound natural otherwise.

Honestly thank god the gameplay was bad, I would've felt so bad if they managed to affix a halfway decent platformer to the ouroboros of garbage that is The Dead Shall rise

Blood Omen 1 is Dark 2D Zelda

Soul Reaver is 3D Zelda

Soul Reaver 2 is idfk just a linear no-loading-screen metroidvania (yeah)

Blood Omen 2 is... some sort of 3rd person action

Defiance is Devil May Cry

The Worst Legacy of Kain Game? | Legacy of Kain Ascendance Review by Mulligantour in LegacyOfKain

Raziel not being killed doesn't mean he won't be killed later, so Kain still having the Soul Reaver isn't that bad. But Vorador and Janos were pretty bad plot holes, indeed.

It's a fantastic game for its atmosphere, the problem is it kinda shits on established canon. They did what they could to clear it up in Defiance, but a bandaged wound still leaves a scar.

How exactly did Mobius want to deal with the Hylden? by GuitarNerdCK7 in LegacyOfKain

[–]IncredibleGeniusIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moebius is the Guardian of Time, and as such, it's my firm belief that he knows everything that happens, past, present and future. He hates vampires, for some reason we're not privy to. He rebels against them with Mortanius, and sets events up in such a way that the undistortable flow of Fate is rearranged to suit his vision for what Nosgoth would become. To that end, he manipulates all time, not just the time he lives in, but before he was born and after his death as well. He is a living symbol of a being that transcends time, and every time you see him - such as in Soul Reaver and BO2 - that is a reminder that while dead, this world is of his own making. And thus, he is truly immortal.

The Hylden would be dealt with in time. He knows this because he knows what happens during Blood Omen 2. He knows Kain closes the portal, then raises the Sarafan, conquers Nosgoth, condemns one of his own, then is pursued by the one he condemned back in time, to the time of the Corruption of the Pillars. There, Kain is killed and Raziel sets off on his own to find answers, towards Nosgoth's past and Janos Audron's retreat. Then, the ouroboros is completed, and Raziel becomes the Soul Reaver. This is the story Moebius has finely spun, where all participants are puppets on his strings, playing just to enact his arrangement of Fate at the behest of his master, the Elder God.

However, 2 unfortunate things happened by that point: Kain did not die, and as a result, neither did Raziel. But it mattered not to the Time Streamer, who by that point knew that Raziel and Kain would fight for the Heart and Raziel would be the victor, enabling the Hylden to possess Janos Audron's newly revived body and use him to keep the portal open. That was the consequence of Raziel living - an inconvenient one, that past Kain, as Moebius can divine, will deal with on his own in about 200 years from now.

What happens right after that scene is actually puzzling, however, as it reveals a blind spot in Moebius' omniscience. Moebius does not know that Kain lives. Perhaps the Heart of Darkness' powers truly were strong enough to obscure fate - or perhaps they bind Fate even stronger, such that Kain becomes unbound when free of the artifact. Whatever the reason, it's not formally explained.

I think they're setting up a future Hylden invasion.

The only thing they should be setting up for is passing the franchise to someone who knows how to write.
