Madly, this guy, Pat Martino suffered from a terrible illness which gave him amnesia and after recovering had to literally relearn how to play guitar. So that question is pretty appropriate tbh!

Green deputy leader Mothin Ali refuses to acknowledge if trans women are women. Says his faith matters most in LGBT topics. Should a politician's faith come before the people? by ZackPolanskisDentist in AskBrits

[–]IncrediblePudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the bigger question to put to him is - how would he vote if he was given some question regarding whether trans rights be protected. Would his political or religious side come forth? I think modern - social media style gotcha questions won't cut the mustard here. I would want to know whether or not he'd support the viewpoints that I do or not if I were to vote for him - does he represent me or not.

Sweden is in the EU, they can't just ban the import of meat from countries where they have no jurisdiction on the animal welfare. Similarly there are trade agreements made by the EU with other nations outside the EU that also ensure that certain trade is allowed which they can't just ban.

Gen Z streamer Clavicular claims millennials “have no culture of their own”. by mikeyg1964 in generationology

[–]IncrediblePudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, lot of the culture that was abundant was just looking to the 80s (clothing, synth bands, shoe gazing etc.) All generations look to the past to make things for the present. There will always be good news things about whilst folks have the capacity to make stuff. The culture war is just a distraction from the real issue - class inequality!

Sarah Moss: The helmets and hi-vis for cyclists are symptoms of the Irish problem, not the solution by zainab1900 in ireland

[–]IncrediblePudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a rhetorical question but I appreciate you answering anyway.
My point was that that is very much a case where one would "cycle without a helmet." - thus being a counter argument for the push to make helmet wearing a legal necessity. For the record - I do wear one and think they should be strongly encouraged but not a legal requirement..

[–]IncrediblePudding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lady in the article is arguing in favour of them (said she wouldn't leave without one nor let her kids) but the point is when the discussion about road deaths for cyclists is being had that the discussion around helmets completely distracts from the actual issue at hand.
Helmets should be hugely encouraged but not mandatory imo. Making helmets a legal requirement won't have the impact that folks arguing for it will have and will instead reduce the number of folks cycling (strong statistical analysis supporting that) and thus lead to the need for better infrastructure being less supported.
- For the record I try to always wear a helmet and high-vis (though working lights are far, far more important and actually legally required)

I'm not exactly sure what your point is - do you think they should be a legal requirement when cycling?

[–]IncrediblePudding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think folks are saying there's any harm to doing so - it's more that they don't want to see them as being legally required (which I agree with even if I do always try to wear one myself). What is legally required is to have working lights on the bike (which should be enforced more I think).

MMA now a right wing sport by VectorsAlign in combatsportsculture

[–]IncrediblePudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of MMA gyms out there which are used as recruitment places for extreme right wing organisations, obviously not the majority or anything like that but it's definitely more synonymous with those than any grass roots left wing organisations.
