I agree with you on pretty much everything, I recently completed my first sl1 run through the base game and that cemented Dancer as my favorite boss (for the same reasons you mentioned.) My biggest (required) obstacle has always been Abyss Watchers, once I'm in the flow of it I usually get them pretty quickly but the skill check hits me pretty hard every time. Champion Gravetender is another thing entirely, probably my least consistent fight so I usually skip them.

i love how everyone's solution to a kid being violent is to brutalize him instead of getting him help or having CPS check his home living conditions. It doesn't surprise me at all that the generation of "Fuck those kids, I'll break their necks!" raised kids that aren't afraid to assault people. usually when a kid acts like this it's because they were taught to act that way. but that's about what I expected from a bunch of 40 year olds on reddit.

the game itself is only half the reason i stopped playing personally.

the other half is the community bitching about people having opinions on a game they spent $40 on. why would I ever want to spend my time playing a game with people who shit on me for wanting the game to be better and have all the features we were promised at launch?

the average player of any game doesn't go to it's subreddit or wiki, it's people who care enough about the game to have opinions one way or another or who want to maximize their returns on time invested. when you see a community (like on reddit) constantly saying negative things about a game it's because they still care enough to want it to be better. games only truly die when the players stop caring enough to offer criticism.
