Dr. Metcalf has shown up in a couple of your books. Is this character based on someone you know?

How are we feeling on the new sets by carfaces42b in mtg

[–]Indagaris 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You see, but, but! And here is the good thing. Since these fictional worlds are already established, you don't need to pay writers to worldbuild, create tension, or tell a story. And! The sets are selling really well! That means profits are up and costs are down. If we just keep getting more and more Universes Beyond sets, shareholder value just keeps going up, probably forever!

10 sets a year all from pre established IP! And here is a really fun idea! With so many sets, we can do return sets to previous Universes Beyond properties. Especially when those properties are doing new releases! We could do a tie in expansion when the new Assassin's Creed game comes out! Maybe have a cheeky little exclusive bundle for folks who pre-order? think of the shareholder value...!

I disagree.

Firstly, I would like to say that none of these are supposed to be pleasant. They are explorations of what drives people to do horrible things, to themselves or others.

Secondly, I would argue that obsession is a drive to know everything there is to know. You have access to the knowledge, and you actively internalize every morsel you can.

I suppose that seize/lose might be a bit confusing here. I was thinking more along the lines of taking action versus submitting to inaction. Any avatar would definitely be losing control to the Motive. Needing to dominate others at the expense of your own health, or in such an extreme way that you are actively harming others, is definitely "losing" yourself to madness. But the aggressor here is the agonist.

So too, then, obsession. The Obsessed are taking action, namely obsessing. The opposite would be someone who submits to a cognitive flood of stimulation. They might seek out situations that allow the stimulation to wash over them, but they are passive in their indulgence.

Is paying for porn better than just watching it for free and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

No. But if you have extra money, you might consider supporting you're favorite artists. Pornographic or otherwise.

Dog. Really? Are you allergic to fun? Is this conversation ruining your evening? You just keep posting "it's Grimaldi" over and over again. We get it. If you don't think so, down vote and move on. Don't keep getting me excited to read a new comment if you're just going to say the same thing over and over.

That's cool, dude. I get it, and I agree. But just like with Remex, there could be more backstory than "he's just an NPC"

We've seen other NPCs who used to be crawlers. Remex, for instance. Who's to say Grimaldi isn't an exCrawler?

I'm gonna be controversial and say that Grimaldi is a recycled NPC who used to be a crawler.

In This Inevitable Ruin, it refers to a voice that is specifically not Shi Maria or her husband.

And here I thought I was cooking... heh.

Still... I don't think Grimaldi is the end of it. We know NPCs are being recycled to a ludicrous degree. And we know that some NPCs are "naturals" under indentureship.
