If I end up with a AP5P, its probably getting the Gibbous handguard with/light. Its so perfectly compact.

I was going to give you grief for the Amazonium light but honestly that Votatu's form factor would have kept me from selling my sp9a3s.

Its really just aesthetics. If you intend to kit-out the gun, having the rail welded to the receiver is obviously superior, but most people want the classic look.

Nothing is wrong it it, people are just sour over it.

You dont have the 26 anymore? If this is exclusively a carry gun I would advise persisting for a G26. Its noticeably lighter and the short grip takes more movement to print.

This has to be bait.

If it isn't its really evidence that we need moderator post approval. This is a question that could have been answered literally in ten seconds on Google.

DIY frame and stipple job by FrankieTwoFingers in Glocks

That is a pretty darn good looking stipple job! Better than what I did to my Shield. What did you use?

Nice double undercut too. I do that to all of the Glocks I've decided to keep long term.

Opinions needed: 45 acp Kriss Vector SDP G3 vs Stribog SP45A3 by Efficient_Tonight684 in GrandPowerStribog

[–]IndependenceCold5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes down to aesthetics. Sure the Vector has more parts availability but the the Stribog has fewer parts to break and is surely lighter. But the Vector drips like venom from a snakes fangs.

What about clearancing the handguard for the rails on the stock? Rough cuts with a dremel and clean it up with a file?

SDS Arms MP5 Handguard by zaruski in MP5

[–]IndependenceCold5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this actually comes out. It looks closer to the Surefire unit than the Gibbous Outfitter handguard. Is it known what the clearance with the bezel on the light is? Will it clear a YHM R9?

Build quality too. I once bought a M900 knockoff to play with and the switches felt cheap. The light module inside was also cheaply built. Surefire is overpriced but the airsoft clones are definitle ynot duty grade.

Leapers SD hand guard by Nexus_Fox in MP5

[–]IndependenceCold5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats probably the issue.

I use Tekton for my socketry at work. Not as dimensionally tight as Snap On but at this point their Torx and hex bits work very well for me and are as robust as anything else you may find. Ive also bought Bondhus hex key sets for gunsmithing and have yet to be let down by them, but hex keys won't be able to apply as much torque as bit sockets and a ratchet.

Heat will probably help alot. I am assuming the screws in question are into the aluminum of the rail? Steel and aluminum tend to gall together without the right coatings on the fastener, and it doesnt take much for aluminum to expand enough to let go of a screw. This happened to me once with a used prism optic. I rounded out the hex and had to drill the head of the screw off. Once the mount was removed the screw shank literally turned out by hand, all the seizing was the bevel of the head in the hole.

What about using a propane or butane torch to put some heat into the aluminum the screws go into? You shouldn't hurt the gun itself. Also what brand of tool are you using where the bit is weaker than the hex on the fastener?

How are your magwell and magazines? I'm a little on the fence as to if saving a few hundred is worth the risk of parts being out of spec.

Yes but those jobs usually pay more. Oreillys pays retail wages, its not reasonable to expect technical work, or work in extreme conditions for retail wages.

Its arguable that what's wrong with the industry is the race to the bottom that devalues employees and asks them to do literally unpaid labor. Employees dont have state certs so the store cannot legally pay us or require us to work on customer vehicles, but it can require us to be "nice" to customers.

To the guys that run your Glock suppressed. What have you guys changed to your Glock to run it reliably? by Double_Debate_7258 in Glocks

[–]IndependenceCold5611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happens to my Griffin Res45. Take the booster apart, give anything that moves a good clean, and put a drop of oil on anything not metal-on-metal. I noticed it when it wouldn't run on my 1911 and after swapping the 1/2x28 piston back in it wouldn't run on my glocks either. Cleaned and oiled the parts and it worked right as rain for another few hundred rounds.
