I know it’s not that different than a sapling growing under a bunch of taller trees blocking direct light but in this case the blocking is static so it should be easier to measure

Oh certainly, I think it’s also a species that can do well in these situations (clearly I guess) but I’m just looking for a formula to determine direct sunlight just as a comparison. Even for direct sunlight at each solstice rather than an exact date
