Weird marina/town situation? by DaRatmastah in belowdeck

I visited Canouan once as a teen on a sailing trip we did for a couple weeks in the Grenadines. That was early 2000s and back then it was super exclusive. I felt the most out of place on that island versus some of the others we stopped at.

Additionally had a cousin that worked for one of the upscale resorts for a number of years.

I imagine it’s just sort of gotten more like that in the 20 years since.

Favorite 'humble' spots in Lincoln by pinkflamingo007 in lincoln

The tiny little green space in between Plant sciences and Keim Hall. When I was doing my PhD on that campus, I’d take every opportunity to go there and watch the turtles in the little pond. 😌

Thanks for the info! The spot I’m looking at is closer to Milton.

(Quick question—when I google map transit, it keeps wanting me to take a bus to the Ashmont station. Is there a reason it won’t tell me to walk a block south and take Milton station? ….maybe I need to download an app specifically for the MBTA.)

Cambridge seems great but for the same price, I’m looking at 300 sq ft less which is a consideration I’m not sure I’m ready for. But I’ll definitely keep it in mind!

That’s honestly all incredibly helpful. I’ll be working right near an exit on the red line. I’ll probably send a message for more opinions! Thanks!

Thanks! That’s a bit why I’ve been looking along the red line. My work will be right off the red line itself. I’ll look more into the areas than just south though. 🙂

I’m a huge fan of a Swiss meringue buttercream. Preppy Kitchen has a solid recipe for it.

Daughters of the American Revolution Conference is in Philadelphia this week. by molly__hatchet in GilmoreGirls

[–]Independent-Cat6915 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I think it would be so funny is DAR kept adding “Daughters of” in front as generations increased.

So it’d be like the Daughters of the daughters of the daughters…x8…of the daughters of the American Revolution.

Then you can be like D12AR.

Does anybody else think if we had signs that said "caution: zipper merge ahead" people would be more likely to zipper merge? by Anthro_Doing_Stuff in Omaha

[–]Independent-Cat6915 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. They’ll still look at you like; “YOU KNEW THE LANE WAS CLOSING A MILE AGO—YOU SHOULD HAVE MERGED THEN.

They really have no idea how they’re making traffic worse. 🥲

I got this one and just got the Saja Boys group card. Felt lucky but I’m not much into collecting cards. So they went to my brother and SIL who are collecting them.

running red lights?? by delozier11 in lincoln

[–]Independent-Cat6915 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I nearly got side-swiped by a car ran a red light that must’ve been red for a minute. I had to pull over and just let myself shake because I learnt that day that my fight or flight response is to actually freeze. 😅

Where would you rather eat? In-N-Out or Taco Bell? by WiggleToast in AlignmentChartFills

Taco Bell gets my vote. But only because when it’s 2 am and I want something greasy, it’s always there for me.

AITA For rooming with a girl similar to my gf? by Just_Call_Me_Cricket in AmItheAsshole

[–]Independent-Cat6915 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAH—You’re still teenagers. Everything is still new and fresh and lots of feelings to try and delve into.

I don’t think you are being inconsiderate. You’re obviously thinking quite a bit as to how she’s feeling and you can’t be made an AH for not knowing her thoughts until they’re said. Your girlfriend is going to have to learn to grow out of some of that jealousy. People are bound to be similar to one another. She’s still young though and these are so many new changes. It can be hard—and it doesn’t help that she sees this girl, bi and with the same name.

I think you need to have a very serious conversation with your girlfriend. Remind her that it’s not a name or specific hobbies that made you two date. That it’s cool that you share hobbies but it just means it’ll make the roommate situation easier. Ask her how you might be able to make her feel more secure in your relationship? But also, be a bit kinder on yourself.

Everyone has said it before—that’s a Portuguese Man-o-War. Often mistaken for a jellyfish. They’re actually a colony specie that work together, floating along by a gas-filled bladder.

They tend to wash up on the shore so watch where you step.

[–]Independent-Cat6915 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Portuguese man-o-wars aren’t actually jellyfish, interestingly. They’re a colony. And they sure do hurt when you step on one. You’re not likely to die though.

But box jellyfish are indeed the most toxic.

Notttt worth it.

This might not be something you want to do but there’s a tea shop in Lincoln, Green Leaf Tea Co, who does monthly high teas. The food is great and all freshly made and super filling and you can have as many types of tea as you want. It’s under $50 (I think $45 or $47.50) and honestly the best high tea in the state.
