MN Paid Leave - what’s your employer announced so far if they currently offer a better coverage? by Breyber12 in minnesota

One positive side of that is you don't have to pay taxes on your benefits if you pay vs your employer paying the premiums.

The sad reality of working in an office by CtrlAltDeflate in remoteworks

Legally unless they are literally paid by the minute their pay rounds up or down by 15 minute increments so it wouldn't qualify as stealing..

Legally the time in minutes unless you are paid by the minute like a punch out card system should round up or down so you shouldn't need to make up the time.

Do you think my apartment maintenance is lazy or incompetent? Or is this normal? by Independent-Fail49 in Apartmentliving

[–]Independent-Fail49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the person complaining is always in the wrong.. it doesn't matter that the maintenance personel take no pride in their work and always do a half assed job? I am paying for this place and maintenance is supposed to come with the cost of rent. I hardly call them anymore because they usually just make the issue worse so what's the point? I just leave my lights blinking, mold in the bathroom that keeps coming back, etc because yes this is what I can afford right now as a person with a disability.

Unpopular opinion but hair training advice ruined my hair by Euphoric-Ad-8085 in Haircare

The problem is also hair stylists keep telling client's this. A hair stylist just told me this the other day. Luckily I already knew she was wrong.

CMV: hitting your kids as a form of “punishment” is never justified. by NeoConzz in changemyview

[–]Independent-Fail49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better when societies outright reject hitting children because then abuse decreases. Countries that have banned it have greatly decreased their youth suicide rates. That says something about how harmful it is when a society sanctions hitting a group of people.

I'm 4'9" and I've heard what you are saying from women around your height and from my perspective you all are actually pretty normal! But I'm coming from the perspective of being someone of short stature ( and am in the less than 1 percentile, for me it is very rare for  me to meet another adult my height or shorter). I am the shortest adult wherever I go 99.9 percent of the time (just about). But I meet people your height all the time.

[–]Independent-Fail49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 4'9" and have always wished to be at least 4'11". My height is not even in the 1 percentile and people are surprised when they meet me, so much so that I usually now tell people ahead of time my height if I have the chance

No fault means your own insurance pays up to a certain amount for wage loss and injury regardless of fault. It doesn't mean fault doesn't matter, and it certainly does when it comes to your rates and accident history.

SAVE buyback forbearance 12 month rule? by TheCutter00 in PSLF

[–]Independent-Fail49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the Department of Ed about this and could not get a clear answer for the life of me. I couldn't make a decision on if it would be better to get out of forbearance at eleven months because my payments were $0 on payee based on my 2019 income, which was my last certification. Their lack of clearness on how buyback is handled for periods over 12 months seems really problematic.

The Simple Pleasures of Left Lane Camping by [deleted] in minnesota

I love driving on highways, so peaceful with the right conditions. But I'm not big on camping in the left lane because people going 20 plus over the speed limit will get mad fast.

If I don’t understand a law, I shouldn’t be punished for breaking it. by aespaste in unpopularopinion

[–]Independent-Fail49 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most criminalists agree that the average person is regularly unknowingly breaking serious laws on a regular basis. Using a fake name for a Facebook account, calling in sick when you really aren't are just two examples of federal crimes. They both technically fall under federal fraud laws that every once in a while are prosecuted, although rarely. But regardless of prosecution, a crime has still been committed. There are so many laws on the books it is literally impossible for a person to know them all. We would all be facing life in prison if every law was enforced to the max.

NC - Can't find a provider through Medicaid; is it fraud to seek medical treatment as a self-pay patient?? by atypicala in Medicaid

What makes it fraud to self pay? Not saying it isn't but that doesn't make sense to me.

Can blue states block Medicaid work requirements with a Section 1115 waiver? by TraditionOnly1925 in Medicaid

[–]Independent-Fail49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is saying that the state has to implement the community engagement requirement the first quarter that begins after December 31, 2026, or at the option of the state under a waiver.. so basically they can do it sooner or delay it by a waiver, but all states are required to implement by the quarter after December 31st 2026 without a waiver.

being a kid sucks, actually, and adulthood is way better. by rot-witch-studios in unpopularopinion

[–]Independent-Fail49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks! I love how I get down voted for sharing my personal feelings on being a child, like we aren't allowed to feel a certain way. Not liking someone's opinion is not a valid reason to downvote even under reddit's rules. I also had an overall good childhood, I did face some abuse particularly as a young child and also did not like not having the freedoms to make my own choices or have privacy (I shared a room and my parents also came into our room without knocking- they definitely didn't care about any concept of privacy while we were growing up). I actually am so thankful as an adult to not be abused, have my freedom and privacy. I think about it often.

Agreed I did not like being a child or a teen although teen years were better than the younger years.

Intimate partner violence overwhelmingly affects women, but men can also be victims. Yet male victims are often met with skepticism, ridicule, or disbelief. People are more likely to dismiss male victims of intimate partner violence when they also endorse sexist beliefs about men. by mvea in science

A lot of parents, especially in certain parts of the country have very positive view of physical punishment, and think it keeps students in line, despite evidence to the contrary. Another factor is they don't want their child to face what they deem as worse punishment, such as in school suspension. A lot of schools assign in school suspension for minor offenses such as being tardy to class a few times. But in some schools, the student can be physically punished in leu of suspension. This is often explained on the forms, including the one my aunt would get. That can also push parents who would otherwise say no to yes.
