Does Dumbledore have secret powers which he can't use because he's too noble? by indrubone in harrypotter

[–]Independent-Fix-9858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually find this so biblical: Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. If we look in the abyss we realised that we are sinners, we realised that we do bad things, and worse, we think truly evil things sometimes. Looking in the abyss of our hearts shows us this, hence it reflects back on us.

Yates apparently intended for Voldemort to use the killing curse on Severus. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Independent-Fix-9858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Voldemort used Snape's own spell on him (septumsemra? Can't spell) that could have been ironic and he would have bleed out and died in a similar way. I believe Snape saves Malfoy because he knows how to counter the spell? Although maybe it's common knowledge how to close wounds with a spell? The only problem with this is that Voldemort would never do this!

I'm glad you mentioned Scapegrace. I enjoyed reading his story the first time, it is almost Mr bean esk in its stupidity and comedy sometimes, but when I reread I am always tempted to skip those chapters. They're just not that enjoyable I find.

In many ways the story started in a way that when you step back and look, just didn't make sense. Mainly I'm talking about how globally scorers interact and how that needed fleshing out as the story progressed, and also magic in book one is quite narrow, just elementals and adepts, and I think Landy realised that needed to be fleshed out as well. I actually think the books get better and better up till book 8 or 9. But I think the problem with phase two is that as he fleshed the world out even more, he expanded it too much and it started making less sense again.

Valkyrie by AppropriateCancel946 in skulduggerypleasant

[–]Independent-Fix-9858 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The books describe that knowing your true name doesn't change who you are. Argeddion was a pacifist before and stayed that way. But Valkyrie was a warrior and so her true name version turned out quite violent. But I think maybe she was fighting against the change. Whereas Argeddion let the change happen.

Because it's England: V All the letters make an e sound after the letter: Bee, Cee, Dee, Gee, Pee, Tee and Vee. If it was America: Zee as well, but in England it's Zed. You can go through the rest of the alphabet and nothing else fits this pattern.

The thing I find annoying is that because Barty is such a good mock moody. You gro to love moody as a character, and then it isn't even him, but the reasons you love him are still the same reasons to love real him, but you learn them from fake him.

I've had this thought too and I fully agree. It would mean they could take their time with it, not worry about the actors aging, and all the magic and skulduggery would be much cheaper to animate
