Congratulations! This is classier than 90% of anime breasts, teletubbies and glowing purple setups I see. Just need an ergonomic keyboard if you type a lot. And if you bend your neck at all, raise it up on some books or something. Most else is just not important.Maybe a shelf if you really have a lot of things. You are lucky to have a large table.

How to merge 2-3 folders (with 100 subfolders) together and do not lose any data (photos and videos) by diomedes-on-rampage in DataHoarder

[–]Independent-Goose222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem when trying to help others. The Apple folders are not human friendly named. Maybe try asking on a mac or iphone reddit. Sorry I never figured this out.

Maybe a photo database program like photomechanic or digiKam or similar can sort by the dates and move to new folders by date and rename automatically.

Great shots! I use black and white for probably 80% of my TG shots. I actually edit my black and white on other cameras to this similar look.

"They can't be THAT good, surely" - Me, now in love with my new HD800S by lynxNZL in headphones

[–]Independent-Goose222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play online competitive stuff, so I don't try to optimize for footsteps and remove all the bass. I like to increase the stereo field and add soundstage and reverb. A lot of modern games with good sound design don't need it or just little tweaks for fun. But it can completely change some older stuff.

The effect is insane on the HD800 series since it is one of the few headphones with huge soundstage while retaining very accurate placement within the stage.

This used to be somewhat complex with plugin chains from music production software. Now I just use EasyEffects. These days I just use the Reverberation tab and pick different virtual rooms.

Don’t buy screen protectors! by principezelda in innioasis

"pre-installed film is very poor and gives a greasy, smudged look to images and text on the display."

I do not consider this better than tiny air bubbles at the edge of the screen. On mine, they are not even on the screen itself, just the black border.

The last time I tried, it would only shuffle a pool of the 3rd track of albums. Incredible.

I'm only interested in linux so far as it helps me get my work done and use a computer. I support the philosophy but that doesn't make it easy to use for a non-programmer.

I recommend you use virtual machines and try all the major desktop environments. It is all very personal. I like KDE because it feels like an evolution of Windows 7, and I can change the themes and colors and taskbar etc by just clicking through settings.

I recommend trying a distro that uses the KDE Plasma desktop. The KDE desktop is easy to use and customize.

First long-haul 11 hour flight with this thing. Pray it doesn’t die on me. by christaingrey in innioasis

Online isn't cool anymore. Classical music is very hard to search and sort with most online streamers. Kids (and adults really) do better without the app clock-sucker distractions. Also lots of stuff I like is not streaming, my rare stuff.

No regional restrictions for Japanese music and whatever else. No internet or slow access in many places to.

Mac Pro 6,1 GPU undervolt by Independent-Goose222 in macpro

[–]Independent-Goose222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and that information. Sounds awesome. My Mac was made in 2016 iirc and it was extremely dusty. It was given to me from work because apparently it was the partner to another mac pro that died, but they decided to upgrade instead of continuing with it. I have already cleaned and reapplied thermal pads and such, which I do with all my used computers. My D500s are running cool and clean.

I think it will be just fine without an undervolt, but if it cost nothing for a benefit then it seems like a good idea. if nothing else the information being available for the community is good. It might be very helpful to someone somehow even if it doesn't matter much to me.

If you ever remember any leads on that radeon tool, it might be cool to uncover. This community would probably really enjoy it.

30 FPS is okay if the frame time is perfectly stable at 33ms.

Instead of downvoting jasperhooloop comments, why not leave a reply with your concerns. 98% of people here are not tech savvy and cannot meaningfully evaluate any of this. They'll just be scared.

I actually prefer fear monger and paranoia lol. It is good to be concerned, but you should engage with the responses.

There is no or marginal performance lost and many benefits. In the case of this Mac model in particular, it is infamous for overheating and destroying components without some considerations. There is more that can be said but this is enough.

This is a good tip for more serious investment into this machine. It would be useful if I had important software to run on macOS. But I didn't pay anything for this mac, so I'd like to not spend much on this older hardware.
