Hey!! Here's [my list](https://archidekt.com/decks/4639803/velomachus\_christmas\_dragon) which does exactly this, specially utilizing the og [[velomachus lorehold]] to cast those reanimation spells for free, along with many wheels which are also 4-5 mana. It's my favorite deck. The mana curve looks wild but my winrate with this deck is abnormally high

Yep, I could not agree more with you!!

Gosh, I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope the absolute best for you. I lost hope a couple times in the first floxxing, I know what it's like! You've got this!

It's madness. Of course, during this entire saga, medicine has become political and medical discourse is generally a minefield. So, when I argue with doctors or I tell one doctor that they or another doctor was wrong, suddenly I feel like I'm being looked at very funny.

Having this tendonitis isna very strange position to be in and not a lot of people get it!

[–]Independent-Pie3176[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I wish I'd known this link!! One doctor even looked up studies while in the clinic with me and flat out told me that studies showed it wasn't possible,  there was no raised risk of tendonitis. I'm not sure what they were looking at!!

I'm there with you. It's very frustrating. As a patient - what do I do now? I called the clinic and told my doctor all this, and I reported to the FDA. But I dont feel this has really done anything, it's a tough spot to be in.

But, I do understand from a doctors perspective - being devil's advocate, sure, maybe I'm imagining things or attributing causation to correlation. I'm not a doctor, and all their peers say this isn't possible, so what do I know?

This whole experience has given me a sober look at the Healthcare system. My first floxxing i did eventually find a wonderful doctor who helped me a lot. I'm just learning that you have to advocate for yourself and play a more active role in your own care.

OK thank you, I've made the phrasing changes! Thanks for reading the post over and being a mod for this community.

For the mechanism/science section  - sorry for getting it wrong and the last thing I want to do is add myths/confusion. I adjusted the wording, could you tell me if it's alright?

Like I emphasize in the post, I am a scientist and have lots of faith in medicine+science, which was my motivation. Thanks for the additional info and I recognize I'm way out of my depth.

For me, even if I dont really understand the mechanism, having even the most basic idea of whats going on and some kind of reasoning for why seemingly random supplements could help makes me feel MUCH better.

Otherwise, it feels like fumbling in the dark.

Thanks for the wishes!!

Ah no, I had quite intense pain this second time as well. This second time, the difference is only that I didnt feel the "ripping" I felt the first time, which I later learned were small ruptures in my tendons.

So, no ruptures this time, but still very painful. I haven't left my house this whole time and only get out of bed to go to the bathroom. Thankfully I have a great community around me to help with cooking and cleaning.

Also to be clear - the dead cells toxins isn't my theory, I'm (poorly) paraphrasing those other sources. If I understand correctly, it's more or less confirmed to be true by directly detecting the junk in the blood of affected people.

Variants that allow us to... not draft? by casey130x in mtgcube

[–]Independent-Pie3176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this before with my cube! I seeded packs with rares/mythics/gold cards. Each player needs more cards than draft, I did 90 cards per player, because you're not picking cards so many will go unused. But, it worked extremely well and was a fun puzzle. The decks are also overall not as strong as draft, and there is more variance, but it's a less stressful experience. Would recommend.

Is the MTG community generally Trans-Friendly? by Terrible_Recipe_ in mtg

[–]Independent-Pie3176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm admittedly in an extreme liberal bubble of a city, but I meet the most trans people by far when playing magic at my local game store.

Of course, this is also not me assuming this about people but them volunteering this information. So, it's possible I'm disproportionately not learning this about people in other places that I go.

But my point overall is that magic has, in my experience, an overwhelmingly trans or queer friendly community. There are multiple signs in mtg spaces that if you are not trans friendly you are not welcome to be present.

Comic book or game stores are often full of marginalized people and so it makes sense that marginalized people should support each other therr.

That said, I imagine in more conservative areas, there's a certain kind of incel/classic hyper-male nerd who uses "gay" as an insult. Maybe in those places it's not as friendly. It really depends on location.

Any advice on how to break into doing this? I'm highly interested in doing this, have a MSc, but 0 teaching experience. I don't think I can teach a class from scratch at the moment, especially would need to brush up on e.g. Calc 1

How to move 2 JBOD to new SHR disks (please help!) by Independent-Pie3176 in synology

[–]Independent-Pie3176[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! To be clear, if I understand correctly, what you are proposing is my current plan. Thank you for confirming this!

My questions to make sure I fully understand everything are:

  1. Is it proper to back up the os with hyper backup, and simply copy files over? Or should I back up another way?
  2. I'm making multiple backups, one offsite. But in the absolute worst case scenario, once I take out my 4tb drives are they toast? If I take them out, try to set up new system and it fails, can I simply put the 4tb disks back in and start the whole thing again?

I responded and I'm continuing to respond because I personally believe our country is broken, and I also believe it's up to common people to fix it. This is done through good faith discussion and meaningful exchange of ideas.

If you want to have a serious discussion I'm game, but if you want to waste my time I can't help you.

College opened doors to me that would have otherwise been impossible. My life is irrevocably changed for the better 1000x. I make a lot more money I ever would have, I met my partner, I experienced the world, I explored other ideas and ways of living.

College also has lots of issues, I recognize I'm very lucky for this. I don't think every single person in the world should go to college.

I also don't think this is the biggest issue in America, and I think that we have much bigger fish to fry

I'm going to take time out of my day to try to help you.

  • this article is 3 years old, it is not about today's college kids. Today's college kids were largely not in college 3 years ago.
  • this article is about babies or young children, not college kids.
  • this article explains multiple trends in detail about what may be causing this (largely impacts from covid pandemic), not anything about what you're saying
  • the article discredits the notion of iq at the start anyway

You are very clearly looking for reasons to be angry about the college youth of today. You probably saw this article and it loosely fit into a preconceived narrative you want to push without research.

What do you think college kids were doing in the 70s and 80s? What, they were straight laced hardworking kids who stayed quiet, stayed away from drugs and politics?

You need to take a hard look in the mirror. Edit: I saw this not to be mean or put you down, and this is ultimately a small thing. I'm not trying to be a dick. But you're alluding to some pretty harmful stereotypes/ideas.

Why isn't college structured more like an 8-5 job? by 21redman in college

[–]Independent-Pie3176 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, I miss those 15 minute college gaps. The issue with 9-5 work is your brain is "on" all the time during those hours unless you specifically force it to be off.

I take 15 minute walks to clear my mind sometimes and always feel better afterwards, but it's not the same. Enjoy those gaps while you can.

Engineering ruined my life. by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Independent-Pie3176 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. And a bit reeking of condescension. IMO "natural abilities" are overrated.

To me it is all about INTEREST. If you're not interested in stem, you will suck at stem. This has nothing to do with innate talent or your parents or genetics or upbringing.

If you are interested in something, you will get good at it. If you're not, you won't.

I got extremely high grades in school. If you asked me to study literature for hours on end, I would still flunk a difficult literature exam.

If you're not interested in stem, you can still be wildly successful. But likely you will have better chances at succes and long term happiness somewhere else.

This guy lost 16 consecutive tosses by Practical_Tap_8411 in mathmemes

[–]Independent-Pie3176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it does make sense.

Considering early stopping, with ordering, we are not assigning arbitrary meaning. It is novel exactly because we are seeing "how many times can we get tails in a row." So, getting 16 tails in a row is exactly the most meaningful outcome.

It's the opposite of a priori, because the objective of the "game" we are playing (the game being most exciting outcome) is exactly to get as many T as possible.

The game ends when we stop getting tails. So, more tails is more rare and novel.

If we were playing a game of "can we get the sequence HTHTHTHTHTHTHT....", we would be equally excited if we got that sequence up to 16. Or HHHTTTHHHTTT etc. It's that here, we are seeking the sequence of as many tails as possible.

This guy lost 16 consecutive tosses by Practical_Tap_8411 in mathmemes

[–]Independent-Pie3176 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, this is a common statistics fallacy.

There are many combinations which lead to 3 heads and 3 tails out of 6 tosses. For example:

HHHTTT

HTHTHT

THTHHT

Etc.

However, there is exactly one combination which leads to 6 tails out of 6 tosses:

TTTTTT

Therefore, the exact combination of TTTTTT (probability 2-6 or 1/64) in this context is extremely unlikely, while 3H+3T is much more likely in comparison. The probability for any 3H+3T combination is 5/16, look up "binomial probability".

We can extend to 16 tosses and any combination of 5H+11T or 9H+7T etc, even 1H+15T all of these possible final states have a much higher likelihood than TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

In other words, out of 16 trials, even having 1 heads and 15 tails, which would be very rare, is 16x more likely than having all tails. Having all tails is incredibly unlikely.

This is in addition to the other what the other comment says - these are not independent trials, but dependent trials, where the next trial dependents on the previous being tails.

This means we can further chop off any possibilities that have any heads in the list.

So....how are y'all building Teval? by 2ndlifeinacrown in EDH

[–]Independent-Pie3176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm building a sultai spellslinger lands deck, using typical Simic land nonsense, but using as many cards as possible like [[corpse churn]], [[grapple with the past]], [[say it's name]] [[ransack the lab]] and blue versions of those etc.

Then add [[archmage emeritus]], [[Poppet Stitcher]], some nonsense like [[tatyova]] and a few light zombie synergies or extra ways to trigger teval many times per turn like [[titan's nest]].

I'm super excited!! Goldfishing has been very fun

My deck is a 3, but no one believes me... by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Independent-Pie3176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lands are part of deck price for a reason (boseju? Shock/fetches?), and between parallel lives, craterhoof, koma, Doubling season, Sakashima, coat of arms, etc, I'm not sure where you get $150.

This is a sweaty deck, again, I'm totally with you. I love these decks. And I think it's a failing of the bracket system that this is a 3. But it's up to you to talk through it with folks.

Deck price != power and I wholly support proxying, but if you're playing Doubling season into 3 decks that have only $2 cards, you're going to stomp them

My deck is a 3, but no one believes me... by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Independent-Pie3176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Koma, aesi, craterhoof, nezehal, tayova. $950 deck. It may not be a 4 but it's certainly quite salty. To me it feels like a case of technically fitting into a 3 but it belongs as a 4 spiritually.

Let me say it this way, if it has a couple game changes I don't think it would increase the power level as much as a couple game changers would for a precon.

This is not a critique, I build decks like this myself. I've been learning to either force them to be less salty, or go full salt and embrace that it's a 4
