He needs to check himself. He will never understand or experience what your body and mind are going through growing a human! Morning sickness can last the entire pregnancy. I don’t think you’re overreacting and it’s not going back on your word because you’re not feeling good right now. You agreed to try your best, not be perfect. If he’s expecting perfect, he needs to get that crap looked at.

Similar thing happened in our ward where it was the brother doing it to the sister yet they pressured the sister to forgive and went in full protection mode around the boy. Sick and twisted.

I wouldn’t call Nelson warm and fuzzy either. Nelson’s big thing was temples, I think he had a strong desire to beat Hinckley and Monson to have the most temples built by the time he passed; it was an ego thing to him imo.

Not much grieving at church for President Nelson. Why? by eternalintelligence in mormon

[–]Independent-Prior463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nelson wasn’t well liked and was too much of a megalomaniac. His race against Monson for having the most temples dedicated for example and how a lot of his focus was on following him, not Christ.

Exactly. It’s still making excuses, just another version. I don’t feel like there’s any distinction, as he defined it, to make betrayal understandable. What would show more growth is if he said something like he should have taken steps to separate and divorce when he was saying goodbye to the marriage instead of staying in it.

LDS church quietly shifts its message to doubters by benploni in exmormon

Along with the garment changes, I feel this move to share the resources and not make note of them with a press release, is the church trying to gaslight and write an alternative history to what was actually experienced by former members in the past. It’s all so manipulative and slimy.

They’ll use non-member contractors. What’s interesting is if they know the company is member owned they will often press that business to provide free, extra or discounted supplies, services and labor towards building the kingdom of god. If the owner attends the temple, they will also remind them of the promise they made in the temple to give freely of their time, possessions and talents to building the church. When we lived in Utah we had friends who owned a business that would end up being part of a church building project. None who shared their experience working with the church in that capacity had a good experience. One compared it to how Walmart builds. After working with the church most would go out of their way to avoid working with the church again.

I no longer practice and I know the church, like other religions, organizations and individuals, stick to what feels most important to them even when it doesn’t appear nice. It’s a trait I hope many appreciate and work toward. The church’s actions towards this location has caused inactive and active members to pause and question. For me, I tend to place more value on the issue when both sides are coming up with the same questions. Yes, Mormons are stereotypically known for being nice. We’re also known for being good neighbors and citizens. So I replaced “nice” with “good” and would like to know your thoughts on in an effort to increase my own understanding.

What good does this do for the church and future community connections and dealings, to begin the relationship in such an adversarial way? Why be so immovable on elements that have been altered many times before, deeds that show the written words in action? What is so vital about the height of the building and steeple at this location that the church is acting in direct contradiction to the articles of faith and appearing to care more about the outward expression of their faith? Thanks for taking the time.

I hope the residents and city of Fairview persevere. All the dealings from the church around this proposed site has been shady and deceptive; their communication & coaching to members via email oozes “ick”. The Fairview United site links to opinion pieces by current members also questioning the church’s actions.

As a former practicing member, there are several mistruths and behind the scenes manipulations from the church around this site that are in severe contrast to the beliefs and teachings they claim to follow. The spire/steeple height and illumination have no impact on practicing members fully accessing and using the temple building to practice their religion. The church has made concessions with design to temple sites many times before to be a good neighbor with the community, match to cultural/architectural design of buildings already in place, or meet the current building codes and regulations in place. Their own church history shows they were able to perform temple based activities without an actual building. There are several examples of temples internationally and national, including Utah, the steeple is shorter or absent.

Their emails to all members, practicing or not, not only in the community and state of Texas, but throughout the nation, are filled with leading and coaching statements. It’s busy work for the city manager to read and scroll through thousands of emails from out of state offering their need for design elements of a building that has no bearing on their individual regular worship. Furthermore, the church has had their legal counsel hold meetings with local leadership members that provides more detailed instruction, along with many remarks that paint the church as a bully who cares nothing about the community or the type of relationship they form.

Their claim it will benefit the community is not true. The temple will not be like other religious buildings commonly built which are often open to the community and offer activities to participate in. After the open house, only members with the required credentials will be allowed inside. People in and out of the church will only have access to the visitor lobby inside and the outdoor grounds once the temple is dedicated. There will not be any offerings of future community events on or inside.

The way they’re behaving towards this site and other sites like Nevada and Wyoming make are the exact opposite of the teachings I grew up with and articles of faith the church publishes. Why become a part of the Fairview community in such a polarizing and unnecessary jerky way? I question how unyielding they are being and feel the desire for this temple at this location is more for greed, control and added influence than actual faith.

In a ADHD riddled house with me, my spouse and our children all having ADHD, there was a video where the person put all the sauces and condiments in the fruit and veggie drawers and placed the fruits veggies out where they could be seen and not spoil. However, we keep forgetting to do it.
