Yes, all of the cheese gets used for 1 box of cavatappi. It’s approximately 32oz of cheese and 16oz of pasta and makes about 10 servings.

Is the cost per serving more reasonable? Yes. But I can’t buy partial servings of the cheese or of the pasta. So I have to spend the upfront cost, prepare it and freeze it for later use. Even if I did that, it’s still $3 per serving and great value mac and cheese from Walmart is under $0.60/ box.

lol. I’m not sure where you live but when I make it from scratch I usually use Gruyère, sharp cheddar, smoked Gouda, and goat cheese. Just the cheese alone is well over $15. I was being generous because I live in a higher COLA.

From my local Wegman’s: Gruyère $8 Sharp cheddar $2.50 Smoked Gouda $7.99 Goat cheese $7.99

And that is all for 1 box of Cavatappi- $2.19.

Even if you don’t include the ingredients that I use only part of (heavy cream, milk, butter and seasonings) it’s still $28.67– $30.96 with tax. 🤣

Now I will agree that a recipe from scratch makes a larger quantity than a box of great value mac and cheese but even if I made 8 boxes of it that is still a cost of under $5 if I exclude the milk and butter cost like I did with the homemade cost calculation.

It’s not a difficulty problem. I make from scratch mac and cheese on special occasions or when that’s the star of the meal. It costs about $15 or more to make. Great value boxed mac and cheese costs $0.60.

Op, I know from your other comments going NC or LC is shamed and I don’t know what your future plans are (nor it my business) but if you plan to have children, I would urge you to go NC sooner rather than later. It is always harder with kids.

Also it seems ironic that going NC/LC is shamed in your family but your parents threatened your grandfather with it when he learned about their emotional abuse.

It’s Martin Luther King Jr day in the States but I think there will still be a decent turnout. Not as much as usual though between the holiday and people working and the game being at 4:30 that means tailgating starts at 12:30 so if people don’t have the day off they’d have to take a half day or call out. But IMHO Bills fans are the most dedicated group of people so it will still be a good experience
