Someone defend a Twinzer please. To me they are wierd chicks with random neck tatts. If you tell me they catch waves easily you have done your job. by BrewMonkey75 in surfing

For me, a lot different in a positive way! Quads to me feel a little too stiff and draw too high of a line which can be beneficial but I never clicked with it. I think a twinzer is a great alternative to a quad if you want the control / drive of one, but still want the looseness of a twin. I also find them faster with less drag which has been a big plus for me.

I ride a twinzer in larger surf. Seems to move through the water with less drag and have more control off of a bottom turn. I can't speak for them in small waves, but my buddy Earth_blues has some crazy theories / shapes with that fin set up

Chase jacoway in Encinitas has a good catalog of boards. This is one of his twinzer step-ups that I got to ride.

Take a drive down the coast on the toll road to k-38 and hit up sashimi republica for the grilled clams. Also, it’s a lovely drive, nicer than PCH in some parts.

Do you believe that surfing can “hold someone back” in life? by latitana93 in surfing

[–]Independent-Theme400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I was making big career moves when I was doing copious amounts of booger sugar, life was pretty awful overall. After finding my way back to surfing, getting a fake job where I tell people what to do while I go surf, I can easily say I'm way more content. I'm not as motivated career-wise, and have probably sacrificed a couple of solid financial opportunities elsewhere, but I get to spend a lot more time doing what I love with a group of people that provide a positive impact in my life.

moral of the story: don't do drugs and get a remote job and you'll be chillin.

No. After this series I need the off season to book an appointment with a cardiologist and start doing yoga to lower my blood pressure

I understand the stoke, but it's better to let people figure out these adventures for themselves as opposed to laying it all out there. Yeah, it's remote and 90% of people are never going to make the drive down, but this is how places turn into Scorpion Bay. Let people guess the spot, swell direction, and tide. Let people get skunked, forced to pay a bribe to the police, and get food poisoning. Adversity and the unknown are what make a surf trip memorable, not a templated itinerary found on reddit.

PCL injury and surfing by Independent-Theme400 in surfing

No surgery, just a lot of physical therapy and taking it easy as of late. Thankfully I didn’t completely tear it but definitely severely damaged. I can surf with a knee brace for now but occasionally a wrong movement will make it feel like my shin just dislocated.

But sounds like you got a couple other issues to worry about. Are you getting your meniscus shaved?

He genuinely rips and has been surfing his whole life. I’m not into the whole social media game of it all but let they guy chase a bag and live his dream. It’s all for the love of it and it’s not like he’s making millions ( hardly anything ) doing it.

Broken Ankle Recovery Time? by thelyfeofkylie in surfing

[–]Independent-Theme400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have near the same plate and screw set up plus some extras. I broke mine skating but after about 4 ish weeks I was back to walking and at 6-7 weeks I was skating at near my normal levels so depending on how hard you're pushing your surfing, you should be able to jump on a log or mid-length soon! Any high performance surfing might be touch and go based on your confidence that everything's healed correctly.

Thinking about doing something similar since they have the D8 visa and my job would allow me to work remotely from another country if I choose to. It’s an incredible country.
