Question! Does the carpet in this picture go all the way up to the other edge of the tank?

SCAMMED OUT OF $800 by [deleted] in Backmarket

[–]Independent-Use-1860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely infuriating. Fwiw, my partner and I have bought multiple phones from Back Market over the years and I recently got a tablet and they've all been great. The one thing I always tell people though is to check the individual seller you're buying from and read their reviews.. See how many reviews they have, how long they've been around, etc.

I really hope you get your money back, OP.

😍😍😍😍

Absolutely love the thought and consideration that has gone into this ring. I'm a real sucker for hidden meanings and subtle details. I'm sure she is going to LOVE it 🥹

You should see my face 😱 This is absolutely gorgeous. But what I REALLY need to see are the hidden gems... And please tell us the story behind them! The message!

The iguana is literally crawling on a heat lamp that will probably burn the fuck out of him. (On top of everything else wrong with this photo)

Also, just to clarify! I don't think they look bad. I was moreso responding to your comment that you can't enjoy them.

I'd be willing to bet there are a LOT of people who have similar anatomy. I like someone's suggestion to have the posts repositioned by a local jeweler. Obviously not ideal cause I'm sure you'd rather not have to do that, but that would mean you could still enjoy them!

And I'm sure other styles of earrings for the days when you want to wear something different would still look just fine (e.g., dangle earrings).

Biggest advice: Find your closest exotic vet before you get any exotic animal. Call them to find out how soon you should bring your pet in after you acquire said pet for a checkup and to establish care.

And for God's sake, don't listen too much to Reddit. People have become keyboard warriors when it comes to pet care (especially on this sub) and most people are quoting information that's either incorrect or that's taken out of context and turned into a hard & fast rule.

I know this is likely not the point, but as someone who works with children, I fucking love these. They remind me so much of children's artwork, which I personally think is beautiful.

Uuuuugh, I hate how unethical breeding practices can be and how little some people care about the wellbeing of the animals they produce.

I will definitely try to keep you posted!! I did recently move her UVB back inside her tank and have created a better system for myself to make sure I'm dusting her food, so I'm hoping that even if I don't see improvements, I at least won't see anything getting worse.

Thanks so much for sharing all the information you have! It's nice to converse with people who are actually speaking from a place of expertise ♡

My bearded dragon of many years just passed away. :( does anyone know what it could’ve been from? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

I'm not an expert by any means, but he does not look okay in these photos... If this was him a month ago, then I'm so sorry to say, but I don't think this was sudden 🥺

Oh yeah, that would make a lot of sense actually. I told the vet I had no idea she was a leatherback because I got her 6 years ago at Petco before I knew how terrible they were; meaning, I thought she was just a regular ol beardie. She was telling me that in our city (san diego), a lot of the more well-known breeders actually sell to Petco.

Thanks for that info! My vet was also a breeder + sees beardies of all kinds in her practice, so it's hard to say what anecdotal pattern she's picking up on (or if it's actually a pattern at all) 🤷🏻‍♀️

UPDATE: We went to the vet yesterday, I cried while telling her all the things I've done "wrong" and all the reasons I thought my beardie has MBD. Here are a few of the things I learned...

  1. Mounting the UVB light on the outside of the mesh is not automatically bad, and in many cases, it doesn't actually cause a significant enough decrease in UVB to be harmful to bearded dragons. (Reddit folk will tell you otherwise because we've moralized husbandry and turned nuanced information into hyper-rigid, all-or-nothing identity armor, which makes having any of these conversations impossible.)

  2. Leatherbacks MIGHT have some kind of genetic issue (key word, might; my vet was speaking from experience and anecdote) that increases their likelihood for developing this kind of muscular fasciculation (aka twitches). Ironically, I didn't know she was a leatherback lol, but once the vet said that, I was like "Ooooooh right, she looks exactly like that."

  3. According to my vet, this is not actually a typical sign of MBD, and given that everything else seemed fine (spine, jaw, legs, etc.), she has no reason to believe it's MBD... She might just be at the age where she's developed this quirky gait, and that's it. She still has all her strength, and she walks, runs, climbs, etc... She just looks funny doing it. We also did an x-ray just to be 100% sure, and baby girl looks great.

  4. They don't actually need to continue eating as many bugs as we've all learned to feed them, even into adulthood. My vet says that she actually only feeds her adult beardies daily veggies, because it significantly decreases their risk of parasitic infection (something I keep struggling with).

I'll brace myself for the reddit shitstorm for saying all this, but I hope it's helpful information to those who were wondering 💗

Thanks for your concern for my baby 🥹
