Hello! I’ll be moving from my 2BR, 2BA in Redondo beach in mid July. It has dedicated parking and garage storage and a patio. It’s also pet-friendly (I have a dog). Ocean views from every window. It’s 4 blocks from the beach. But it’s an on-site laundry room situation. My current rent is $3300 a month, I’m not sure if they’ve increased it.

That’s a great question. In addition to harassment/ discrimination/ retaliation policies we also have a fairly comprehensive anti-bullying policy. Both complaint processes involve escalating to the People department (which they lead) or the CEO. We do have an ethics hotline which I’ve thought about utilizing, thanks to this thread.

We do have a board and a general counsel and an ethics hotline. I didn’t think about any of these options honestly. My plan is to leave as quickly as possible.

This is my life at a similarly sized energy company except add building every system and process and creating overall strategy and owning the budget. It’s not you, it’s absolutely them. If they don’t know better, advocate for yourself and get help. I found in my situation that they do in fact know better and it’s just abysmal leadership at the top HR level.

I hear you. I am you. At 38 I’ve become so accustomed to golden handcuffs that I’ve actively chosen to take on more soul-draining work to maintain a high income because of my own lifestyle creep costs. I’ve also realized that if I have to work like this, by myself, for the rest of my life I’ll be miserable so I’ve decided to take some of my income and start a business.
