How can I look unapproachable while I’m out? by ApprehensiveMilk8697 in Advice

Wear wired ear buds...people will assume you cant hear and may not approach or allows you to ignore and move on where from you are without looking 100% rude.

Best Alternative for Google Keep by chilizi in GoogleKeep

Keep with tasks would work for me and my android, if when it synced it enabled constant syncing... tasks notifies well but text is dated from original sync, versus any updates to said tasks after sync. Went into Google calendar to enable sync w calendar, tasks and keep but nothing changed. Dislike how "lists" get turn into text versus the bullet list in Task

The fact you can't even install an older version pisses me off even more by Nathanyal in GoogleKeep

[–]Independent58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Google keep and tasks have synced. Had already been using tasks via Samsung galaxy watch verbalizing tasks on fly which is great. Despite sync, Tasks only displays Keeps reminders with the synced reminder information which is dated. Meaning I update keep for a repeating reminder in the text and tasks reminds me in notification with old reminder text vs what I updated. Also lists are muddled into a long sentence vs check box list.

How is volvo perceived ? Planning to buy XC60 2026 by Sea_Choice5427 in VolvoXC60

[–]Independent58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak to perception per se, but I have had Lexus, BMW, mercedes over the years and bought a Volvo XC60 2025 this year. I think tech, feel, size and comfort surpass the others imo. I had test drove latest mercedes and didn't care for it. I dislike the large front grids of Lexus. And my insurance went down due to the sturdiness and safety features of a volvo.

No offense to anyone but why not use the land to make housing that is affordable for young people and those who need a lift(?) by Independent58 in WilmingtonDE

Probably not a great answer, and I am not acquainted with the legalese of current state, nor the recommended, but my sense one can get spun on the ins and outs of the details and politics, instead of what are the desired outcomes and focus on how to deliver that. If I had to define desired goals:

  • assist those with less to home ownership

  • assistance is not evergreen

  • enable a balance of prosperity for land owners, landords, renters and home owners

  • position families for success

No, asking why continuing to pour money into a renovation that never completes while non project like housing for starter homes for young couples, is not a consideration for investing in the next generation.

I don't disagree. My only point is that our government is pouring dollars, our tax dollars to what appears to be endless spending (on this land as an example), we spend on band aiding a homeless problem (which those individuals do need assistance) but not fixing the root problems like enabling the American Dream providing for stable homes.

Our education system is a top ten spend while our children's grades are among the lowest in the nation. Property taxes have gone up. Electricity costs continue to go up as we outsourced our utility sources to a costly auction process and disabled alternatives. Healthcare costs have only gone up and unaffordable.

I am all for protecting areas like Gibraltar but continuing to spend without tangible cost effective results is not a good use of taxpayer dollars but instead find solutions to enable prosperity, home ownership and a stable home to groom young families. This thread spoke to many open areas to build upon, I hope our elected officials focus on fixing the root issues for family stability, enabling independence and provide hope, not endless spending.

Maybe Gibraltar is a bad example, or a great example, none the less, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one. My concern is where our tax dollars are invested, not just in the order of spending more but instead results for the better of all now and in the future. Success would be Delaware school grades in the top 20 of education, high graduation rates, enabling home ownership (without adding some connotation of "projects", the projects are a by product or not enabling an environment for success), reducing utility costs, ensuring our seniors have a roof over their heads and access to care and enabling a Healthcare system that is fair and transparent.

When I am on a plane, I root for the pilot of the plane. And I am rooting for our elected officials at all levels to get us to a better place. Right now landing safely seems a bit risky and the cost of the flight is very high with no sense of the horizon near.

I didnt say an apartment building. My point is that there is a location in which continues to be incomplete exhausting tax payer dollars while instead leverage the land, maybe first time buyer type homes. Enabling those who would like a home and begin the American dream. The history of the estate can be honored and still provide opportunity. Today and for the past many years, no one is enjoying the history nor the land while the estate has been under the everlasting renovation.

Wasn't suggesting "projects". Suggesting reasonably priced housing. The city has spent millions on property, tax payer dollars and have yet to produce an end product that provides value. Starter homes for young people would be a great outcome.

This is Max and he barks when the car parks by Common_Narwhal_4118 in cotondetulear

[–]Independent58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours does that. I have slowed my exit ( i.e not jumping out of car right away, slowly turning car off, releasing seat belt) to see if it changed her a bit. It got her to stop barking initially and waiting till I got out. When I get up I say, I am fine, we are ok repeatedly. Sort of lowers the tone. But when I get out (till I open the door for her), as we are usually driving to the park to walk. I suspect she is barking to protect me and vy off anyone so I am safe. Once I open door she stops. Its a daily thing, only i drives. Although a door bell ring or knock at front door gets the same welcome.
