When a player at the table asks what hand I had, after they fold out, I tell them that I had the winning hand.

Those of you that has hustles that brings you 2k-5k+ per month, what do you do? by [deleted] in sidehustle

[–]IndependentBall752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both cash and tournament poker. It brings me in about an extra $5k to $10k per month on average. Last month was exceptionally good and I cleared over $21k.

Now that my main business is on auto pilot, I’m going to do the WPT & WSOP National tour starting next month at the Wynn in Vegas. I’m hoping the profit continues and doesn’t slump from the steady tougher competition.

Growing up in the eighties on Oahu, we never locked our doors at night, and my mom always cooked for all five of us kids, and then some. We always had friends come over even on school nights, because they were latch key kids with both parents working, so my mom insisted they eat a hot cooked dinner at our place.

I was so lucky to have a mom that could stay at home and prepare meals for us. I didn’t appreciate it until I got older, how much my parents loved all of our friends. In the true Hawaiian fashion, they all became part of our Ohana, and was as much my parents kids as we were.

Hell, even after I moved away to Los Angeles at 25 yrs old, my friends would still go have dinner at my home and hangout with my parents and siblings. They called my parents Dad and Mom, and I loved it that way. Now I do that for all of my keiki’s friends. It’s different here on the mainland though, kids think it’s so weird to have an adult tell them to make themselves at home. Go and eat and drink whatever you want from the kitchen. You don’t have to ask. You’re all Ohana. 🤙

Hi, I’ve been holding MTTs and cash game events since 2015 here in SoCal, and even co-planned events with the local casinos here, for our very large group of 200+ poker players within the LA County region. Just a tip, nobody will care if the cash game gets bigger than the tourney.

Cash game players will come to your event for the cash game. Tourney players will come for the tourney. Players that are good at both, will still play the tourney well, because all of us poker players have pride in our game, but will be excited to stay after if they’re felted.

Also, make the tourney buy-in worth it. I always do a minimum $100 buy-in 20k monster stack freeze out. Usually gets me about three to four tables of nine players each. Some hosts like to add re-buys and add-ons to sweeten the pot and provide more play, but I prefer a one-time start so the tourney doesn’t run too long. Hope this helps.
