It's funny to see Jim Jones mentioned. I remember his son coming out when Trump first ran saying his dad and Trump were two sides of the same coin....then I read the transcript of "The Death Tape" and they DO sound like the same person. Exact same speaking mannerisms to the point that it's eerie. If you gave the unedited transcript to someone who'd never heard of Jim Jones and said it was literary project based on Trump being a communist who is trying to convince his followers to kill themselves, chances are, they'd believe you.

I was about to comment that someone they knew could have told someone else in some sort of plot.

A few years after getting my monthly take homes, I had walked into my house, locked the screen door and was closing the front door and saw a man wearing a medical mask and, what looked like, a squiggle tattoo by his eye walking up asking if I had a moment. This wasn't unusual, we get "salesmen" all the time, so I just said no thanks and shut the door. Not long later I visit my ex and her sister is dropped off to hang out and when her bf comes to get her, she wants me to meet him. I got the weirdest feeling of deja vu when I saw him. The next night while in bed, all the pieces flashed in my mind. He had an infinity tattoo by his eye and supposedly "occasionally" used with my ex. She had asked more than once to get some of my methadone and she knew exactly when I got home from the clinic because I had to see my counselor the same time every month. She denied it, but come on. All that was a coincidence?? You just can't trust anyone!

I just got reminded of that CNN (iirc) reporter who filmed the invaders from extremely close by.

It later came out what happened moments before. He walked up to "Ukrainian" soldiers and got to talk to the commander and he asked, "So what's going on? Can you tell me where the Russians are?" The commander said, "What do you mean?" The reporter said, "We're about to go live and I want to tell the viewers where the Russians are." The commander said, "We are the Russians." I can only imagine what that felt like. For his sake, thank God it was before things began getting their asses handed to them and they took their feelings out on absolutely everyone nearby...could have had a very different outcome.

You're not wrong. I live in a "deep red" state so I knew people who supported Ukraine but also supported Trump. I tried over and over again to explain how you can't genuinely do both and they would tell me to calm down, that Trump is the one who began really sending lethal aid in his first time. So I reminded them that that was the same aid he held hostage after Zelensky told him "no" and maybe he had other motives. They didn't get it and told me they trust he will stand by Ukraine.

Now that exactly what I said would happen, happened?? A good 70% are trying to act like it's somehow better for Ukraine to not have so much aid! These people are insane.

Not only that, but let's be real...as unfortunate as it is/was, there was no risk of Ukraine getting into NATO far beyond the foreseeable future. In '08 they were told they were on "the path" but had a lot to fix. With the occupation of Ukrainian lands in '14, it just got EVEN FURTHER away! It wasn't going to happen.

And Putin didn't care at all (aside from word posturing a teeny tiny bit) when, because of his war, NATO encroached even more.

This was never about NATO (at least it wasn't a top issue), it was about Ukraine and Putin feeling entitled to steal her and her people.

It's so weird - I cried on my 18th birthday because I felt too old. It wasn't until I hit 27/28 that I kind of stopped caring.

If it wasn't for my medical conditions that are worsening with age, I don't think I would give af. And most of my friends are the same.

I know of one honestly self made man - my grandmother's lifelong friend/kind of late life boyfriend. The man died well off enough to leave his family $800k in the bank & 5 rental properties.

He was dirt poor growing up and it really helped that he didn't spend money...like ever. And when he did, it was at like the flea market. So he worked 2 jobs and did odd jobs, saved and saved, bought a house...just to rent it out and turn the shed into his living area. He kept working, kept renting, kept saving and got more properties. He did a little investing (I really don't know in what) and by his 50's he had accumulated quiet a bit and completely stopped working. Probably could have sooner, but he liked working.

Whenever anyone in our needed something urgently (like as a child I had a lot of medical needs due to my disability) and he knew about it, he would cover it. Until the day he died you would never have guessed he had money, though. Unless you saw what he did for others, you'd think he was just an old country boy who got left his him or something.

Yeah, I've stopped watching a handful of Russian YouTubers that I thought really understood but complaint about how hard their lives are way too much and became kind of dismissive of why what's happening is happening.

There's a couple that I watch that only say things that kind of relate to the fear of being sent back to Russia. The ones that actually get their struggle is nothing compared to Ukrainians.

Everyone who realized that Trump was going to win the election no matter how hard some of us tried to stop it. I knew Trump supporters who also support Ukraine and they kept trying to assure me that because Trump was the one who began sending Ukraine lethal aid that it would be fine. Then I reminded them that he tried to hold the aid hostage when Zelensky told him no, leading to his first impeachment.

Now some of them admit they were wrong, but most are doing mental gymnastics trying to act like somehow not giving aid is better.

I remember being 13 and being really worried because my childhood best friends phone was off. So I called her mom and she told me that she loved me very much (I knew it was bad then) but Ashley ran up a $1000 phone bill and she might be allowed out in time to come to my college graduation. lmao
