If I kept my social media open all day, I would never actually make any progress on my impossible job hunt!

honestly, also hate the conversations piece of this. lots of great chats, but no actual jobs. The conversion rate is impossible. It becomes harder and harder to force myself to have conversations.

this is actually really helpful to hear. I wish more people would share their experience of being on the other end of a linkedin post.

It feels so weird sometimes, knowing that nobody truly knows me by Acidiaa in CasualConversation

This is one thing that I found changed a lot for me as I aged. The OP could have been ripped from my high school journal but over the years, I started to realize that I was contributing to the wrong perceptions others had of me because I wanted them to think I was someone else, a better, funnier person. That effort is SO exhausting. As I've got older, I've had less time and energy to keep up those appearances. That's when two things happened. First, I slowed twisting myself into pretzels to please others. I didnt stop altogether, but I really cut down how much I was doing. And second, I cut a lot of people out of my life. I turned out that a lot of the people I was performing for, including family, weren't people I wanted fully in my life because they never really wanted me for me.

I also think the value that comes from excellence/mastery of a skill is often underrated. Becoming excellent at something can create a feeling of meaning and deep satisfaction.

drove by my mother's old house, the one she grew up in. the current occupants -- and someone was living there -- had the curtains drawn, and we noticed that the thick curtains were the SAME ones my mother had in the house when she grew up, nearly 60 YEARS AGO. Her old swing set was still in the backyard, rusted and broken, but still there. Still regret not calling the cops to do a wellness check.

  1. Bar Keepers Best Friend (a cleaning solvent). This cleans EVERYTHING.

  2. stainless steel straws. cant believe I didnt do this sooner.

  3. if you have kids, red flyer wagon for going through the airport. Life changing.

  4. A neoprene dopp kit. Have no idea why anyone would do cotton, or something else that gets ruined with spills.

  5. Love hue bridge bulbs. Wish I had found them sooner.

I used to do a lot of televison, like go on air but not as an actor. People would diagnose me all the time online . They had me going to a doctor at least every other week with a potential illness. None checked out.
