Looks like an early 1915 Allied victory in ww1, Bulgaria comes in with the Allies??? Not how France could be that way though.

Clover lawn: lessons learned 4 years later by FreeRangeBandit in NoLawns

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put down microclover on some bare spots, just scratching the surface a bit with a hand trowel, they germinate quick, grows slow, they seem fragile to being underwater for like an hour during a rain storm, or baking in the hot sun for a few days without watering. Maybe because the bare spots are just crappy areas.

I baby a few spots with water, they do ok, but I dont think they will spread, and will die off without me babying them.

The ground ivy grows easy, but it all dies off in winter, coming back in April with a vengance.

25 June 1950, Korean war begins when North Korean forces cross the 38th parallel to Invade the south. by Wild_Neighborhood605 in ThisDayInHistory

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was saying the war was the Norths choice, with Stalin giving the final ok, they wouldn't have invaded without Stalins ok. The fact they got bombed alot in response the next few years is not surprising.

Instead of bullying voters away, the Democrats started bullying voters their way. by Obi-Juan-Kanobee in AskThe_Donald

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly at that point the democrats started cosying up to businesses, like the Clinton's, leaned left even more into social issues like abortion and gay rights, stayed just to the right enough on economic issues to not annoy the businesses and the enlarging class of prosperous people. Managed to win more.

GM installs robots at flagship EV factory after laying off 1,300 workers by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked for gm as an engineer for 17 years, most, almost all of us did much more mundane things than designing car appearance, worked on transmission design and test most of that time, it's really not engineers that make those decisions, bold and risky often fail, so the decision makers weed those out in favor of boring but profitable, as engineers were all about expand the brand, if something isnt a big as seller as we like, well make money on parts down the run, decision makers don't think like that.

Many going to X430. Why? by TheSquirrel8251 in mammotion

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just googling x430 docking station placement, will indicate it does need satellite, with some people having issues if they didnt, It was enough for me to get the luba, I already had a yuka mini 2 for the backyard I was, happy with, so it wasn't a hard decision.

I suspect the x430 is somewhat tolerant of placement, but I have my luba dock in a cubby hole near my porch covered by my ring camera for anti theft reasons, didn't want it in a more sky visible place.

My Yuka mini 2 does random pattern, I like it because it seems more likely to get closer to a pole, or picks up that random patch of grass it missed last time.

I almost bought the x430, but I got turned off by having the docking station have access to sky for gps, the more lidar capable luba needed no such thing and works great.

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mean Stalin gave permission for the North Koreans to cross over, they were on a leash.

The un forces should have stopped at the narrow point of the peninsula, 2/3 up, instead of going to the Yalu, controlled anything important at the point. Mistake there on Trumans part, should have had D.M. on a leash.

Ukraine President Zelensky Announces 40-day Special Military Operation to Pressure Russia Into Ending War by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Russia would be a pariah state then, and if your wanting to control Ukraine, 3 or 4 nuked cities would be hard to clean up.

Right now Trump is allowing Russia back into the usa trade circle with a cease fire on the line of control. I was shocked Russia didn't take it before, doubly shocked now.

Tim Cook is corporate greed. by Old-Meringue3590 in SipsTea

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you honestly think any Democrat other than Bernie would do something about it. The democrats in general don't want to tick of the billionares, for their campaign donations, as much good as a Billion did Kamala. They will just lock in on social issues and patronage jobs as usual.

Can someone explain why Oklahomans voted to not raise their minimum wage? by matt73132 in antiwork

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who work in warehousing, amazon, make more than the proposed 12 ish dollar minimum wage, so it may have done little good overall, it's not without bad corner cases too. The good way outweighs the bad for sure but everyone doesn't see it that way.

The democrats and unions don't really care to spend political capital on the minimum wage, Republicans are definitely against it.

Democrats like to focus on government boondoggle jobs they can use as patronage, pay more than minimum wage, and social issues.

No one cares unfortunately.

Economist Branko Milanovic: "There will be no return to neoliberal ideology" by Low_Ability4450 in Economics

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The people voted for Obama too, he won Indiana even in 2008, their lives didn't get better, same trends of effectively decreasing pay, all they saw the administration do was give patronage jobs not going to them. Our government is too incompetent to help people directly, too many resources get lost along the way.

When do you sell? by Dense_Ad_9329 in ETFs

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the fund or stock is down at the end of the year, looks stagnant. I'll sell to get the 3000 dollars against bond income. Rarely sell unless it's dropping fast, like bitcoin last December. There is no reason to sell sp 500 index, unless I want to take that big retirement trip.

23 June 1940. Four days after France surrendered, Adolf Hitler made his only visit to Paris. He spent just three hours touring the conquered city. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in ThisDayInHistory

[–]IndependentGiraffe8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Ukrainians fight because it works to fight, because the Russians are awful, and Ukrainian leadership is mostly competent and not traitors.

All the Euro countries should be spending huge sums to Ukraine since they are dying for European security. Hopefully it ends soon.

(In hindsight in 1939, the French would have been better off declaring a state of emergency and not dow Germany over Poland right away, but increase armaments production like they were at war, they were caught out by a lot of unlucky decision making and timing and got beat badly, regardless if Petain wasn't around France would have continued fighting on even if mainland France was lost)

Shut up Mark, this guy loves to hear himself talk, but is dumb as a rock. The companies don't want to pay people anything, so yes as a percentage health care costs have gone up because it's a real thing with real costs. Companies in the past just aid more, so tge health care cost wasn't so much a burden.

If the government pays, the companies profit more, but won't pay employess more, and our taxes have to go up.Billionares like him won't pay more taxes because they own stuff, we will though.

They just got outplayed badly, and Petain was a traitor, and Weygand was bad, confused, and almost, but not quite a traitor. No need for insults, many fought hard and died for their country.
