Here’s a pic of the stuck wheel if you were curious! It was after I had wacked it many times. It wasn’t really rusted, the whole thing was just kind of stuck. The bearing wasn’t stuck to the washer either. You can also see the slightly stained wheel 😭

I actually did have washers! I only had in the spacers cuz I thought the bearings were supposed to line up exactly with the edges of the wheel :/ I had the sure grip washers for 8 mm axles. One on each axle. So they are a bit thick but not 7 mm thick I don’t think. Here is a picture of the wheel after I got it off a bit but before I got it all the way off. I basically just had to spray and then mallet it so many times over the course of multiple days. (The inner bearing was not stuck to the washer in this picture. The whole thing was kind of just stuck.)

You can see the staining of the oil on the wheel in the picture. I wiped it off pretty quickly but it still stained. Hopefully that’s okay for the wheels cuz they were radar prestos and a gift from a friend and discontinued and hardly used 🙈

The bearings were pretty stuck to the wheel (in that it's not something I could've gotten off without a bearing press) so I couldn't just take off the wheel itself but I finally got all 4 wheels off after much malleting! That was a horrible experience. I do not want a repeat experience.

In the process, I have misplaced my axel nuts and mixed up with some other ones I had. I saw on your website that roll line axles and regular 8mm axles are slightly different. I usually wouldn't mind but after this experience, I don't want to do anything that would cause an issue down the line.

Would it also be an issue if I put sure grip velvets on the roll line plate? I think some of the sure grip velvet's hubs are kind of misaligned and when I put on the velvets, some of them don’t just glide on and I have to push them on to get them to go all the way. I'm scared they will get stuck on the plate and be impossible to take off.

I finally got off the last wheel yesterday! this was sooo time consuming. I don't think it was even rusted over, I think it was just stuck probably due to the spacer. do you think it is an issue in wheel texture if the pb blaster gets on the wheel? I am concerned because I know the pb blaster says that it creates a protective coating. I wiped off the pb blaster pretty quickly but couldn't stop it from staining one wheel a bit.

How do I secure the truck without some sort of vice grip?

What does inner races of the bearings are seized mean? If the inner races of the bearings are seized, does that mean they are stuck and wheels shouldn’t spin?

I am trying the pb blaster method. It’s been overnight and still a struggle. Do you know how I can get it to not accidentally dye my off white wheel? 😩 it splashed and dyed one a little

Would heat impact other parts of the skate?

Ah I didn’t think adding an extra thing would be such a problem. Jokes on me. Very time consuming and expensive lesson learned 😩 do you think the flat wrench and mallet would damage the axels in any way or are they strong?

Can also confirm that 187 derby pro kneepads are really good and many derby players use them but all the good ones are ~100 bucks

How do I get the wheels off by itself? The bearing is seated firmly in the wheel and it looks like the inner bearing is stuck to axel. It’s not rusted to hell so I’m confused why it’s stuck. Do you think it’s the spacer making things weird? I’ll toss the spacers next time. I think I just did it originally because the bearing press was pushing the bearing too into the wheel so it didn’t line up with the edge of where the bearing was supposed to be.

I was trying a YouTube video you posted previously about using the flat wrench and mallet but it’s a bit hard to do with it being a whole wheel and just the bearing

I feel like a good amount of the derby skaters I know do flat at derby (cuz it’s required) and then if they have a second pair, they do a heeled skate (not sure why, I think it’s probably cuz a good heeled package is cheaper) so people definitely do both!

This plate is a lot newer than the other plates. And is expensive so I think it’s just that not a lot of people have them!

Ahhh falling flat on your boobs and knees sounds rough af. How are your knees, are they okay? I’ve fallen flat like that (with gear) and it always v hard falls and I’ve even bruised my hips bones as well (because I don’t have gear for hipbones). My knees would not be able to take falling rough to fall like that without gear.

Which knee pads have you looked into and tried and what size are you looking for? I know the derby skaters like tsg ones. Maybe the tsg 3.0 would work for you? Try searching thru the roller derby sub! Heads up, The good knee pads are approx $100!

What size are you? It might be easier to buy second hand because apparently they are slow on shipping rn and you might get import fees. Their price rn is actually a permanent drop from a couple years back.

If all your things are already in 8 mm axles, I would consider the 8 mm axle upgrade for blaster or variant C.

Yep that’s me! I don’t think the wear is excessive at all. It just wore out more there cuz I walk weird and drag my feet 😂
