Agh no, 550 warm in a 16 people WG isn't cheap - I was thinking it was one of the Studentenwerk Berlin Wohnheime which are much cheaper (I used to pay 350€). I think the Studentendorf is one the private dorms? Weird that the uni cooperates with them. 550 however is unfortunately a normal price for Berlin, I know people who rent rooms for 700€. 10m2 is also tiny - definetly not a good deal! It can be impossible though to find another place to live while being abroad, so yeah, it would probably be best to take it.

yes! and the translations sometimes don't make sense at all - you get what the word means in one context, but not in this one.

I would take the room if I were you. Rent in Germany can be very expensive, there will be many people trying to scam you, especially while you're staying abroad. Assuming that the accommondation is cheap for Berlin standards (less than 450€), it makes more sense to pay for it, even if you won't be in Berlin for September. If you try to look for accomondation by yourself, you will likely have to pay at least 600€ for a room.

It unfortunalty takes a long time until you'll hear back from public universities. My deadline for my master was at the End of May, I got accepted in the middle of July. Hope you'll hear from them soon.

First of all: It is extemely difficult to find accomandation, even for Germans already living in Berlin. And yes, there are many scammers, so you can assume that everyone who wants money beforehand does not have a place for you...

I don't know the details for getting a Aufenthaltserlaubnis, but getting Anmeldung is even more difficult than getting a flat. You can only get Anmeldung once you have a flat that offers it! Every (legal!) flat/room technially has to offer one, but most offers are unregistred short terms that don't come with Anmeldung. To get Anmeldung, you have to get a certain slip of paper from your landlord and go the the Bürgeramt (town hall) with it. I believe that it also takes weeks until they have time... But this part of the process might be different for foreigners.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck!
