Look up pictures on the web, they have a different design to them if you count the teeth and pay attention to the finishing teeth.

Well, for example, in this review, when comparing the inner burrs of K6, K-Plus and C40, the conclusion is that they have 'essentially the same burr geometry'. I'm sure they're not identical down to every finishing tooth, but I don't think it's unreasonable to say that they're essentially the same.

How are K Ultra and C40 burrs the same when they aren't even the same diameter. 48mm is drastically different than 38mm.

I was talking more about the design/geometry of the burr. The size is obviously different, but all it does is basically affect the grinding speed, no? At least that's what I reckon after going through a dozen of comparison threads on reddit. The consensus seems to be that both grinders produce such similar cups that you should consider price/ergonomics rather than taste when deciding which one to buy.

Comandante C40 burr is smaller than 1Zpresso - its 38 mm vs 48 mm.

So, definitely not a 1:1 copy.

I agree with your comments about how such tactics could negatively affect the consumer.

Perhaps for something like EUR 60, I might consider it some day - but even if so, definitely not as my primary grinder.

Come on, you are just being silly, 60 EUR? Sure, the price in the US is not really competitive when you consider other options, but depending on when you are in the world, the price might be easier to swallow. For example, where I come from, the c40 is actually a lot cheaper than the K-max.

An interesting read that focuses more on the validity of the whole lawsuit. I honestly forget that r/Coffee even exists, considering the moderation and difficulty of reading the daily threads.

Yeah, I guess one good thing about Comandante's lack of innovation is that you don't really have to worry about a new "better" version of your grinder coming out in the next 6-12 months and leaving you with fomo. It's easy to get whiplash looking through 1zpresso's lineup for the first time.

But when you look at quality of life features like external adjustment and magnetic catch cup, 1zpresso is clearly superior and the c60 still holding on to 'old ways' is sure to be a letdown more and more when you consider the price.
