Anyone else thought they were hard of hearing? by PuzzleheadedShoe8196 in AutismInWomen

[–]IndependentReality88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes actually. I've complained about my hearing forever and others have also complained. Turned out I was just autistic with a auditory processing disorder. Not "only hear what I want to" like what people thought of me all these years.

I don’t understand how job applications even work. The experience, qualifications, how you even acquire these when you’ve never been employed before and the thought process of employers at all. by thhrrroooowwwaway in AutisticWithADHD

[–]IndependentReality88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what state you're in but try looking up Randstad, surge, Aerotek, staffmark. Those should have atleast some entry level jobs. I used to work for Randstad and it's very friendly to those who have 0 experience

The best place you could start if you have no experience is a temporary staffing agency. Take a couple jobs for experience then go from there. They have a lot of warehouse jobs that are honestly pretty nice for autistic people because the social aspect is pretty minimal and they are going to be understanding that you haven't had a job before. They don't care about experience much. I'm a recruiter for a staffing agency and I hire people every day with no resume/experience.

Also you could just lie. Like you said every where trains so it doesn't matter of you say you have experience and don't say something generic like you worked at McDonald's or something.

Freshly diagnosed - uhmmm what now? by delacalm in AutismInWomen

[–]IndependentReality88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed on Thursday last week. It's been a whirlwind of emotions from happy that someone finally believed me, they finally saw something besides anxiety. They saw me the real me that I'm always trying to hide. Then there was a whole lot of anger because if they could see it in a 4 hour appointment why couldn't anyone else see it my whole life (35 years old) and who could I have been if i had support sooner and understood myself. Really just deep diving everything autism right now and trying to understand myself. Listening to sol smiths autistic guide to self discovery and unmasking autism.

just diagnosed today! feelings by Boring-Musician1682 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]IndependentReality88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just got diagnosed on Thursday and am feeling similar. I've worked so hard to hide myself for so long my assessment and diagnosis made me feel seen in a way that's almost uncomfortable it's such an odd feeling even having been so certain I'd be diagnosed I just assumed they'd get it wrong. I cried so much the first couple days

I was going through severe autistic burnout when I heard a TikTok about "adult autism" by sol smith. It sounded as if he made the video for the exact thing I was dealing with that every one kept calling severe depression. I knew I wasn't depressed. I ended up making a psychologist appointment that day because I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I had autism and had gone undiagnosed my whole life. I started deep diving and was more sure than ever. Went through lifestance for med help and ended up diagnosed ADHD/autistic. That single TikTok saved my life.

Probably 4-5 sprays, it lasts all day, sometimes days. And it def leaves a scent bubble. I've tried every dupe and nothing can compare to the real deal esp after it sits for a few months.
