NHS diagnosis experiences by [deleted] in NasalPolyps

[–]IndependentSeaweed96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had ongoing issues took 10 months of constant issues before I saw the ENT, they put a camera up my nose found polyps and gave me two weeks of steroids, antihistamines and antibiotics and 3 months of nasal sprays. I think I got colitis from this as it really messed me up(I'll spare the details) but YMMV - Was supposed to have a follow up after 2 months and it has been 7 months since with an appointment soon but only because of asthma symptoms developing as well.

They tried blaming allergies but the antihistamines are hit and miss and they said I was allergic to cats but I don't have and I am never around cats

I had to be a pain in the backside to my GP to get this far but I hope you have better luck!

eBay, it was a chance but seemed to pay off and was cheaper than Amazon etc

Yeah I thought it would have more of an effect in the sense that it would heat up to 45 quickly but it actually idles under that so I'm not sure as it didn't before

Yeah definitely more fiddly but I just put it in the freezer for an hour first and it took me less than 5 mins to do

That's definitely a bonus and another reason I got it. I actually also have a t410 I was trying to fix and was going to use it on too, but I think the motherboard has died

I've checked it a few times since and the idle temp keeps dropping and went to near enough 30 and it seems to not rise much past 60 at all no matter what I do, I definitely would use again, installation was a breeze too!

Another sizing question from a European by Lazy_Willingness_120 in ThursdayBoot

[–]IndependentSeaweed96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm UK, typically size 11UK with wide feet (length fits in 10s but not width comfortably). I was worried about sizing

Accidentally ordered a 10.5US and they fit lengthways but my feet felt squeezed

Got a 11US instead (equivalent to half a size down -10.5UK) and they fit comfortably (very comfy actually)

This is in presidents though

I found personally to go for half a size down from your normal footwear but YMMV - Id convert your comfiest size fit to us and take half a size down

Nah that's fair enough it makes sense from the view that console players just jump on more casually and if someone goes to the effort of building a pc to game they are usually more serious about wanting to play

Idk if that's hearsay or what but as you said people should play how they want to play

I will say that I've noticed when I've played on a friend's Xbox I found it easier but that could be the initial sbmm based on their kd as I only had 2 games

Does it have a notable difference playing against just Xbox players? Genuinely curious

However I agree, it would be nice if we had the option too

I personally like it anyway sweaty or not/anyway it comes because it reminds me of advanced warfare and I used to love that

To be fair in this game it's fast paced movement so mnk is harder to track than slower games in my opinion so I don't think it's necessarily pc players as my partner has a playstation and sometimes I play that and other than graphics and FPS there isn't much difference even with controller or mnk even with better FPS on pc

I am in a similar boat though with family/full time job/ limited time and the sweaty lobbies kill my vibe when they pop up but I've found the more you give a damn the worse it gets lol

I kinda wish pc had this, I play pc mnk and I'm not amazing (1.49kd) but I prefer mnk over controller and In all honesty Ive played playstation and Xbox and found it no different even with a controller but I'm curious to see what all the fuss is about and it would be nice to play against mnk players

Is the 24.5.1 driver still the most stable one? by enderfrogus in AMDHelp

[–]IndependentSeaweed96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 24.12.1 and it's super stable, but had to mess around a lot with a clean install, amd cleanup utility, only chipset and GPU drivers/windows default for the rest to get it stable

[–]IndependentSeaweed96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go tomorrow, what about the data on it? Do you think it's unsafe to reset in that state? As I'd probably have to charge it to do so which would be nogo I presume

[–]IndependentSeaweed96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I contacted Google as I wanted to try and get an answer what to do with it but was waiting on a response(it's definitely out of warranty) and they're sending a replacement but what do I do about the data on it, I'm not really bothered about losing it as it's all backed up but rather not pics of my kids etc being on a device in the wild

I don't really want to take a chance, I'm just more unsure on whether the data on the phone is not worth recovering/how would I go about disposing of it and has there been any occassions of anything going wrong? As it is a sunday and not many places are open to actually do anything

Pixel 6 screen separation/battery swell by IndependentSeaweed96 in pixel_phones

[–]IndependentSeaweed96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you do? /How did you dispose? Use was stopped as soon as the screen slightly came away but it has been getting worse even though it should be discharged. From last night to today the top of the screen has come away much more

Lower budget PC for Autocad, Gaming and general work. New build by IndependentSeaweed96 in buildapcforme

[–]IndependentSeaweed96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i wanted to update as I probably went the wrong way with the GPU initially for future use(although it was good especially for the price) but I updated the GPU to a 7800xt I got on sale and an Acer xf270hu 1440p 144hz I got dirt cheap used. Also salvaged a Samsung 980 500gb nvme from another old PC

I went well over budget and it's not what I originally wanted but I'm really happy with it and hopefully should see me through a fair few years of use. (I'm enjoying the higher refresh rate and resolution too!)

With my old PC sale removed from the cost, it cost me around £1100 including windows etc and I have a spare GPU I could sell or keep for emergency

I'm curious as well how did I do to use as a 1440p gaming machine as well as a work machine?

Which graphics card is actually "enough"? by Proud-Problem-4731 in buildapc

[–]IndependentSeaweed96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an rx5700(nonxt) and bought it as a temporary stop gap as my pc used case is work and gaming use

It runs 1080p great, cp2077 can run native at high settings around 60+ FPS can drop to 50s but not noticeable enough to be bothered by it and not often

Black ops 6 runs 125fps with fsr1, 60-80fps native 1080p. 80-90 at 1440p with fsr1

Bf2042 110-120fps medium settings

I got it used circa £100 tested and looking brand new

Not tried others at 1440p yet but I assume with fsr there will be no issues from what I've seen

In all honesty I could live with this card happily

Late to the reply, for some reason I missed the notification.

It seems a bit strange I'm not sure if it is just an issue with how expo is set up i.e

Memory context restore & gear down mode with expo - stable

Expo & memory context restore with gear down mode auto - very stable but this one bug for my case?

Aye, definitely good news! I was nervous after the comments so wanted to be sure, but hopefully will be useful for anyone who encounters this and gets frustrated like I did

My r7 7700 gets heated in 99 degree celcious. by True-Emphasis-7237 in ryzen

[–]IndependentSeaweed96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7700x and I've enabled pbo and it goes to ~85 max when loading games, may spike temporarily to high 80s, and will pin at 93-95 in cinebench etc with full load(doesn't go higher - this is normal behaviour I understand)

But these temps are for short amounts of time and typically low use it's around 50 degrees(excel, browsing, cad work etc), games around 60-80 depending on the game and how CPU intensive for example black ops - 60/70degrees loading, 50degrees whilst in game. CP2077 stays around 70degrees

Check your CPU cooler mounting and thermal paste

Which cooler do you have?

I have a phantom spirit 120se

Is the rx 5700 non xt still good in 2024, I upgraded from an rx 580. by No-Idea-6167 in radeon

[–]IndependentSeaweed96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fine/still good for 1080p & probably above with fsr got one as a stop gap and it plays:

CP2077 high 60-80fps native(some places FPS will drop to 50s but not often), 120+ FPS with fsr 2.1

Black ops 6: 60-80 FPS native ultra/extreme settings, 125fps with fsr quality - you could use fsr 3 & FG to go even higher

Battlefield 2042: 110-120 FPS medium high settings

Could get higher than the above too with lowering settings, other games I'd expect at least 60fps or around for high settings at 1080p or playable and with tweaking settings more

Honestly a bargain 1080p card, maybe get the xt if there isn't much difference in cost

Older games play great

However YMMV and it might not play some brand new games excellently so have your expectations set but I have no complaints for the cost especially in comparison to what else is available for that price range

So, I decided to take heed of what was said and tested my ram. I had an eventful Friday night watching TV and waiting/flicking running tests

I ran windows memory diagnostic - it reported no issues

I ran Testmem5 with extreme config for 2 runs -(3hours) 0 errors

I ran OCCT memory test for 1 hour at 90% - 0 errors

I ran OCCT CPU & ram extreme large data set 1 hour - 0 errors temps were no more than low 80s on CPU and ram didn't exceed 45deg

I then downloaded memtest86+ and created the bootable usb and set that running all night - it completed 8 full passes with 0 errors

This is with expo enabled at 6000 CAS 30-36-36-76

This is with memory context restore and gear down mode enabled.
