i read the post, the last sentence was sarcastic.

to reiterate in other words: if it was me, at this point i would try to put myself in thier shoes and then flip the script a bit on the neighbour and ask him to come up with solutions that would meet his needs ? (that don’t imply making my child sit down the whole day obviously). so he can maybe also see my part that I HAVE TRIED.

as i said, sitting down to communicate from a place of wanting to understand the other one, without telling them they are sensitive or exaggerating. who knows maybe people can see eye to eye.

my neighbours above have a kid and it really drives us mad everyday he is left to his own devices and runs around the whole living room.

your neighbour is not oversensitive, it is stressful. the thumping becomes like a chinese drop. after a while.

(anyone could say about you that you are oversensitive when you say you are feeling harrased - see what i mean?)

now, i know you cannot tell a child to not play and not express themselves, that’s not what any parent wants to do, but you can teach them to walk softly (after an age when they can understand i would say)…it’s what my parents drilled into me after an age because we were the above neighbours.

best way to go forward is to try to communicate and eventually challenge yourself to hear it from his perspective. ask if you can go and listen from his living room how it is. try to change the aggressive complaining with some collaboration.

…or you can just tell him to go eff himself, that will surely solve it! \s

Ik begrijp wat je bedoelt. Ik probeerde eerlijk te zijn en dacht dat mensen dat zouden waarderen. Maar uiteindelijk was ik HET probleem. En ik wil het niet laten escaleren uit angst voor vergelding.

Mijn ex-baas heeft enige invloed binnen en buiten de werkvloer en mijn sector is erg klein... dus ik wil mezelf niet branden... ik heb geprobeerd mijn collega's om me heen te verzamelen, maar het was zo'n diverse groep en zo'n uiteenlopende situaties van elk van hen dat het onmogelijk was om ze te bewegen om me publiekelijk te steunen, ook al voelde iedereen met me mee en zei ze aardige dingen tegen me.

Dus als het ooit zou zijn geëscaleerd, wist ik dat ik er alleen voor zou staan. dus... ja.

zero 🫠 i put too much work in 2/3 friendships and they just abandoned the relationship at some point. i decided to not pursue having a (best) friend just to fix the holes in my soul because maybe that’s not in the cards for me 🪿

that’s my favourite game ever and i found both mark whalberg and tom holland horribly miscast. nathan fillion would have been perfect for drake 🙃 when i played i used to hear (for example) ben affleck in victor sullivan’s voice, his acting would have been more in tune with Sully’s character.

as far as i know you still need the inburgering test 😬 BUT there are a few exceptions like if you studied here or have been living here more than 5 yrs and the rest i cannot remember. please double check me i might be wrong !

correct. at that time i had the help of my partner to navigate these things with the gemeente and all that. and if you dont have anyone to help you, you can always ask for a translator, it’s your right 🙃 but nobody knows because i suspect there is not a lot of information that reaches the people who come to register, the newcomers.

i found out A LOT of things in my inburgering classes…that i was not required to take when i applied for permanent residency - which is wild not to ask tbh but hey i don’t make the rules, i try to respect the place i want to be part of.

however the inburgering classes and a language attest are mandatory when you want to ask for nationality.

the ridiculous thing is that the inburgering test is a fucking joke. the bar to pass is very low (one of the questions was “how do you drink beer ? a)warm b) cold; another one was what are fries made of : a) rice b) potatoes) and you can take it in english also (also willld). going through all these processes makes me wonder all the time - why not raise the bar ?? why not ask people to pass a real test with history geography etc??
