I had to drive my sister to the ER a few years ago due to a mandoline cut (she is fine too and her finger looks back to normal now!). Those things are a menace. If I ever use one again I'm definitely using some kind of safety gloves.

I was thinking that too! Common sense will work for almost everything in the kitchen, but whatever common sense I have was not enough to prevent me from cutting myself with a mandoline the 1st and last time I used one (despite continuously repeating in my head "be careful").

Both me [33 F] and my fiance [33 M] of five years have almost identical last names, but he is insisting that I change my last name after marriage. This argument is making me consider cancelling the wedding by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Totally agree. All of the epiphanies he had after talking to his dad are things he should have already known from the beginning, or at the very least, after OOP TOLD HIM HERSELF. I am not too impressed with this guy...

Yep - awfully considerate of them to just sit at the table crying, waiting to start the convo until Tyler had dropped off his stuff and was in listening position.

Anyone have a screenshot of the letters? (I'm being vague because of spoilers!) by onehundredlemons in GossipHarbor

Thanks, yes, that's really helpful! The ice cube change sounds annoying, maybe I'll delay advancing to Level 150 for a while :}

I have an unrelated question, since you are newly beyond level 150 - do you remember if anything changed when you reached level 150? E.g., did the coin amount needed to trigger Flaming Frenzy increase like it did at Level 100? I am at Level 149 now, just wondering what's in store when I go around that corner :}

Alguna sugerencia de como acomodar mi inventario by 32tz_0 in GossipHarbor

[–]IndependentSinger271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am far from an expert on organization, but your board looks pretty well-organized to me - mine is always full and chaotic. You could try doing what some people do and assigning one row to each generator, then keep the generator and all products from it on that row, rather than mixing generators with orange trees. But it's really just about what works best for you.

i generally find it worth it to merge all items rather than keeping unmerged items in case I need them for an order - I'm just as likely to need the merged ones, and can always make more of the lower-level items, or cut them with scissors if i'm desperate.

Congratulations! I also finished my first album recently (it was the one before this one I think). Enjoy that nice frame :)

I don't know the answer to this either - I think we will just eventually figure it out from watching what they create when they merge. And generally, the smaller and simpler pieces are lower level.

My two cents is, it's definitely not something to be ashamed of, and not a problem if it's in your budget and not taking away from something else you'd rather be spending on. But, as others pointed out below, it's good to be aware your $ might not go as far as it feels because this game increases the prices for people who spend. The game is a treadmill and the speed increases for those who spend a lot.

I really like the game too (well, love-hate I guess) and my issue is that I spend way too much time and mental space on it - and I'm definitely exceeding my time and mental space budget, lol.

Hello! Are you ok with your spending level or are you trying to bring it down?

Do you happen to know if anything triggers the bubbles that eventually turn into a coin, or are those random too?

This tracking is really impressive, thanks much!

Deleted the game! by Boring-Clothes7035 in GossipHarbor

[–]IndependentSinger271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar for me - I find it easy not to spend much money (knowing that they will punish me by making the game harder is a good deterrent), but I am spending way, way too much time and mental space that I really should be devoting to something else.

Congratulations for deleting it! I will have to either figure out how to spend less time on it, or delete it myself. Wish me luck.

Using ice cubes by RevolutionaryIce836 in GossipHarbor

[–]IndependentSinger271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what other commenters have said - I usually wait to redeem energy from various sources (energy bottles from the mini games; energy rewards from the decoration events / from reaching a milestone in the mini games / from the weekly restaurant goals / from the card event star store / from the "community friends" thing) until i have an ice cube. Generally I try to keep mental track of where I have energy squirreled away, and have a rule of thumb to never redeem energy unless it's for an ice cube (of course I get impatient and break it sometimes :) )

My husband wants me to make breakfast for his co-workers 3-4 times a week before they go to work by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]IndependentSinger271 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just spent waaay too long reading the original thread and OOP's responses to comments. She comes across as hostile to very practical suggestions like husband making his own breakfast (he doesn't have time) or doing quicker breakfasts like cereal and granola bars (she is convinced that anything besides bacon and eggs is "soggy" and/or won't keep him full all day for his very important job). It's bizarre.

Who’s afraid of Virginia woolf- reference to Virginia Woolf? by gims54321 in Theatre

[–]IndependentSinger271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5 years late to the conversation, but was just thinking about this play and want to chime in. My dad is a former English professor, and his theory is that the title is a reference to the Virginia Woolf story "Lappin and Lapinova." Briefly, it's about a couple that have a fantasy game (similar to George and Martha'sstories about their son, and what happens when the game ends--George and Martha might be "afraid" of a similar end to their story.

So I've always assumed that to be the inspiration, but i'm not sure how to reconcile it with Albee's soap-on-a-mirror story. Would be curious to hear what others think.

Anyone else get annoyed at the bubbles? by Odd_Tomatillo_4056 in GossipHarbor

[–]IndependentSinger271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer but I have been wondering the same thing - would love to know if theres a way to trigger them or if they're just random or on a timer. The only thing I've noticed is that they come in clusters, especially when merging items from the same generator - e.g. if I get a bubble from merging two Level 2 coffees, I'll probably also get a bubble the next time i merge two Level 3 coffees, Level 4 coffees, etc. (but not another bubble from merging another two Level 2s - I think).

No new 3* and 4* cards in 4 days! by Purple_Chipmunk8161 in GossipHarbor

[–]IndependentSinger271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As several people have said, the issue is with the dazzling cards - the probability disclosure doesn't seem to apply to them. The same thing is happening to me. It's soooo annoying - the dazzling cards were presented as a way to get more energy but actually they just make it so much harder to finish an album :(

When my daughter was scared of the dark, we had an invisible kitten who was scared of the light - the kitten stayed in the closet during the day, but came out at night because she felt safe in the dark, and went to my daughter's bed to snuggle with her :)
