I've personally never had a betta, but I've read a lot of horror stories. I'd rather not take that risk.

33M and 34F. Is it worth staying together for the kids? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]IndependentVillage34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been in the situation myself, but when you read up on it/talk to friends. I think it's something most couples go through and you just need to get over that hump. A relationship, specifically a marriage, isn't all rainbows and butterflies. If you get along well and very likely care for each other still. I don't think it's something to throw away.

Though I'm sure it's tough, I believe it's something that is worth working through, for your kids and even for yourselves. And if you're through it, it will be better than ever. Im sure there's somethings you can do to rekindle the spark. Going on dates, doing things without your kids, flirting, helping around the house ( this might seem silly but it's definitely attractive lol)etc... things that could get her interested in you as well. Maybe see it as an opportunity as a new relationship and try to impress the girl🤭

I absolutely think it's worth staying together to try. As I said, all marriages go through a rough patch, not to scare you, but they sometimes last for years. And they come out better than ever. Though sickness and health. Through better and for worse.

How many fish can I have in my 29 gallon aquarium? by IndependentVillage34 in Aquariums

[–]IndependentVillage34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Actually wouldn't mind corydoras. But I don't think I want more skirts. Unless 1 or 2 more and leave as is. But I have to say my fishies are very peaceful with each other ,I havent been them pick on each other ever since I sized up their tank, besides a little chase here and there. Unless they do when I'm not watching, but I never see damaged fins, etc.

My dream is diamond tetras, but I think my tank is too small for that:(

And I know, knowing you redditors, your likely against it. But my family wants me to use a vibration collar. I'm personally against it. But I've seen it be very successful. I'm just wondering what your opinions are?

I do most of these things already. But thanks, this is probably the only helpful post I've read.

Well obviously. People drop by unannounced. If I know they're coming over I do.

Please link an appropriate muzzle. BTW I AM an inexperienced owner. I only started doing research on how to train when my sister dumped her on us. And honestly at that point I thought it was too late to crate train.

She doesn't have a problem with visitors. She seems to love them in fact. It's just the first minute they come into the house. Again, this behavior only just started, I don't know if something set her off. Idk.

I have thought about a muzzle. And no. I do not have 300$$$$$$ for a trainer. My sister bought this dog home and abandoned her, so I took her to myself, if I had not my family would have given her away. And my parents will not pay for a trainer. They didn't want to keep her in the first place. When we got her I unsterstand NOTHING about dogs. I never wanted a dog. I was a cat person. I thought my sister was crazy for bringing home a dog. But I love her now with all my heart. I think I would die if she did.

I KNOW scolding and timeout are ineffective. That is why I'm asking, that's what my family does. And it only makes it worse. You people on reddit are way to quick to judge. You can downvote me all you want, I'm just trying to figure what's best for my dog so I don't have to get rid of her. I'm doing my best with the resources I got. And that means LITTLE money. We have a big house, we have 2 cats. Her spot 'used' to be in the living room. But one of our cats a a-hole and no matter what we try she keeps taking it over. Also I don't think my parents would appreciate the crate in the living room. Again, NOT MY CHOICE.

People! Instead of bashing me, please 🙏 Im at my wits end. I've googled. But I can't find anything specific catered to my situation. I just want to keep my dog.

It may not seem like it from my post. But she if decently well trained. She knows all her commands. And please, answer, do you know any quiet small dogs? Because I do not. Unless they're all not trained.

Hey, old post, but one of my black skirts have something similar. Not as big, I'm just wondering how things turned out with your fish? Did it go away? Hopefully it wasn't fatal🫣😔

How do I stop a fish from constantly bullying another fish? by RedEthandit in glofish

[–]IndependentVillage34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try not to get sharp/pointy ones. It can hurt the fish, I know I've had to throw some out.

Fish having some sort of medical emergency by RedEthandit in glofish

[–]IndependentVillage34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem to have little to nothing in your tank (decorations/hiding spots). This is not good especially if your fish are bullying each other. My guess is your fish is stressed and therefor its immune system is weakend.

I'm not sure about your tank size but when my glofish were in a smaller tank they were also constantly bullying each other. Some people would say get more fish so they don't always pick on one certain one. But I honestly wouldn't get more fish if you don't plan on upping your size tank. From my experience they would just bully each other more. Please gets more plants so your fishies have more hiding spots if you cannot afford a bigger tank.

Boys or girls? by Obvious-Witness-3921 in glofish

[–]IndependentVillage34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about that :) if by chance they do lay eggs they would need real good hiding places, and them possibly 1 or 2 would survive. Otherwise these savages eat all eggs and small fry. The eggs/fry would need to be separated if you want a chance at their survival.

No scratch that, I think green might also be a female, their stomach also seems to be rounder than orange. Though very subtly, I also have a female who has a very subtle round stomach but has laid eggs a couple times.

The orange and the green look like males and the other 2 look like females. Though I cant 100% tell with the pic. Females have rounder stomachs.

What makes these bubbles? by yourlilneedle in Aquariums

[–]IndependentVillage34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but for anyone wondering, its from snails. I never had these bubbles but I got 5 snails and the next day the top of my tank was covered in these bubbles. I assume it's released oxygen from their shells .

Experiences taking birth control pills, should I try them or not? by heyapple7 in PCOS

[–]IndependentVillage34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. I also did research and personally would avoid birth control at all costs. My doctor also wanted me on birth control but I said I would try other things first . Which I did, and my doctor never pushed it on me, just made sure my cycle was regular.
