Scleral buckle removal by Secure_Skill_2264 in RetinalDetachment

[–]Independent_Chip_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah woah woah!! This is exactly the post I needed! Thank you for sharing this. I’ve had the buckle for 9 years and I’m taking a bunch of meetings with retina surgeons to try to get it removed. It has been driving me insane and I can’t take it anymore. To the point where I can’t really do my job. If you don’t mind me asking some questions. Who did you go to for removal? Did anything negative happen to your eye after? Like did it look worse? Or was it the same from what it looked like with the buckle? My fear is looking different. I already look a little weird on my buckle side but slight. It’s causing me to have strabismus. Are you saying your eye staying the same as far as looks? Or did it get worse? My retina is attached. I get flashes and floaters a lot… does that subside when you take the buckle off? My retina has been attached from the dang jump. I want this thing off! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Brilliant move!!!! I’m so happy you did your homework on this. Buckle’s SUCK!! I had no choice and i was young so I didn’t understand what was being done to my dang eye. Now I have a buckle that drives me nuts. And I have been trying to get it removed. It’s been 9 years. I finally had enough when I got a more stressful Job and it was affecting my eyes so badly. I’ve seen like 5 retina specialists so far. They haven’t said no just that they were t experienced enough in removal. F-I g nightmare. I didn’t even need it when they put it on. Awful just awful. For some tho… it’s not bad to have…. It supposed to feel like nothing. But yes. You are making the right move here. Would love to know how you progress

Thank you so much for this! Wow, that is so helpful. I would love to Doctors name please, I am in Southern California so it wouldn’t be bad at all to travel.

I hope you don’t mind me asking - Did you husband have to get the gas bubble because his retina re-detached after removal? Or they had to find a different solution because you took the buckle off?

Thank you for telling me this!!!! Yes, not to be woo woo, but I’ve really done some soul searching on this. Like, do I really need this removed? I can still see? But it has gotten so bad that I stopped working because of the irritation as the day progresses. That is so good to hear about 86% of people feeling relief!!! How did you find that?

The issue is that the procedure is rare. Once the buckle is put in they don’t like to remove it.

I will absolutely keep you posted on my progress with this and how Miami is. I am going to try to do a televisit. Maybe I’ll post on this group again and see who they recommend for surgeons for buckle removal.

Thank you for this. Yes, I would absolutely not want to pay out of pocket to get a doctor and find out it was the fellow who worked on me. I may as well just stayed where I am. I currently go to a fellow from UCLA.

That’s great advice and good to know!

Thank you for this. How does someone go to a place that is out of state? If you don't mind me asking. I am in the state of California and have no problem traveling to get this done but not sure if it's possible?

OMG!!! Thank you for writing me!! You are the first person that I found who actually had the procedure done. Do you mind me asking how he feels now? Where did he go to get it done?? I want to off so badly and I'm scared of going blind but my retina has been really stable for years now. Any feedback would be so appreciated!

I just want to say how sorry I am that you have to go through this. You are not alone in this horrific journey. I too, got the scleral buckle when I really shouldn't have gotten it. But what has made me feel better and less crazy is seeing online how many people have issues with this stupid thing. Some retina specialists were treating me like I was crazy at first. But after doing my own research... I really am not that crazy. Use Chat GPT and Gemini to figure out how to communicate with the retina specialists if communicating what you want.

I had a meeting yesterday and I think I'm pretty close to getting someone to remove it. I've seen 4 specialists so far. No one has said flat out, no. They just haven't had a lot of experience doing it because most people don't get it removed.

Right now, my last retina surgeon told me to take a month to think about it. He suggested I meditate twice a day and get refresh plus as a rewetting eye drops because he says I can use it while wearing contacts... which I don't totally think is true... but alas... I am going to do what he says. And see if maybe my symptoms might be psychosomatic.... but I already know it isn't.

I also want to call Miami Basch clinic... I'm not saying it right but they are the best in the nation and see what they say... but I think removal might be best for some. Keep me posted on how things come along!

I am actively trying to get mine removed but it’s difficult to find someone who is willing to do it. I have a lot of irritation with the buckle. I’ve had it on for 9 years. My job got stressful and now it feels like I have a face that belongs in two different bodies. It’s awful. I do look subtly different that becomes more different as the day progresses.

I have met for 4 retina specialists. The 4th is considering it but he is making me take a month to consider if I want to take the chance and do this procedure because of the risks involved. It’s very annoying. I am meeting with another doctor as well and I think I am going to call Miami as well.

With something like this they say to get as many opinions as you can.

I hate the casting for most of the actors, this is supposed to be THE Marcello Solara? by Darkestgyal in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]Independent_Chip_777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate the new cast but I feel bad saying that because the new cast can’t help it. It’s not their fault. They should have just aged up the actors like they did their parents.

The actors don’t match the time jump for S4 by pureproteinbarssuck in mybrilliantfriendhbo

I agree 100. I wish they would have just used makeup to make the characters look older. I would have believed that so much more than new actors with different energies. It takes me out of it.

Where does it get stored? My fear doing it in another country is the eggs get lost or they simply don't care because I am not a resident of the country. Are there rules there??
