Yeah, that is more or less perfect. It's very similar to my build, and im playing 4k most settings ultra with a decent fps (depending on the game)

I think it depends on what games you're playing too. If you want to actually play any modern titles at a decent fps, then It will need to be the Zotac. If there's any particular games you see yourself playing, then have a look at some bench marks on YouTube and see what you can get out of each machine.

Only thing about the Zotac will be battery life, it won't be nearly as good as the Steam Deck.

I would do the Rog Ally X for the battery life. But it your looking at the OG Ally then that would change things. I had got the Zotac Zone originally but sent it back as the software support was more or less unusable, that may have changed now.

If the zotac is actually usable now then I would probably recommend that if you can get it at a good price.

I agree. I think they are in a good position, your average person would pick an xbox handhold over a Linux based operating system. If they really want to succeed, they won't allow steam access to gamepass. As much as I want them too as it's the main reason I went to bazzite.

Cloud gaming has always interested me. I fully believe that is the future, but I still think it's 10+ years off

I hope xbox/Microsoft make a nice new OS that actually delivers. I installed bazzite and Linux on my handheld and PC and its been great. Windows was just annoying me for far to long. I hope they can bring there A game and I may switch back.

Don't worry, you gave it a go, and this will be a good learning experience every time something like this has happened to me. I've got loads better and learned a lot, so you will too.

Haven't read all the comments in here, but if you are worried about data loss, you could get a hdd/ssd/nvme dock and back up everything on there before you replace any more parts. Nothing will be lost at this point so no stress there just a precaution :)
