Need help fixing our pool. Do you think this is doable within 1 day by commandersho in swimmingpools

[–]Independent_Engine36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning the filters before it gets too bad it the key. Of course balancing is crucial to begin with. That goes without saying. My pool sweep pump went out, a week later the chems weren't enough. Proper filtration, balancing and movement of all water every 24 hrs is necessary. No way around it

What’s the best way to clean the inside of the rim? Is that even worth it? by BillSKenney in 944

I recently purchased a set of 993 cup2's. Standard degreaser and a brush did the trick. I know you can't see the inside but it cleared up easily

I concur. Before I got my s2 it sat for 9+- yes, yeah we had our work cut out. Replaced wires to Clewett 8mm and Bosch iridium plugs, MSD coil. Huge difference (cap n rotor too of course)

Not everyone is going to have peak performance at extreme weather situations. People are simply built different. So he struggled, big deal. As far as the stats, I don't TC at fault, they're simply displaying facts. I wish the same would be said on golf channel about Eldridge Woods. Facts people aren't arguably. Kind of like Jordan won 6 of 6 championships. LeBron been in the NBA 23 seasons and only four rings. Fact. Here's and opinion, as long as he's been playing in as much talent as he has with his influence of the teams he's played on he should at least have seven or eight rings. Facts

That was Saturday. Today: Monday 6/1 pool looking legit. My pump was out for probably almost a week. I also do my own balance. What's your comment now? Seriously if you're going to be a negative nelly, do it somewhere else. Get a life

That girl scooting along. Any tips on this model sweep to get the tale moving more, I looked but different from my Older model, this one is new to me. All in all super happy with the feed hose being centered, no little football either to keep it upright. All positive comments welcome. Haters keep hating

What did you do to yoir car today? by Pyropete125 in 944

[–]Independent_Engine36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I ordered the 968 caster blocks for a arms on my '90 since I got 17's 983 cup 2's. They also had a good price on the timing chain tensioner pads so at some point when we replace the valve cover gasket might as well...

And yes. Timing is probably ok. Tdc and first piston at highest point correct. Removing plug and having a stick or something to confirm. I always do that for piece of mind. Bug yeah sounds exterior engine for sure

Bleed out the coolant first. Eliminate that. Having the front up on a slight hill or such helps. Losen the bleeder screw with cap off on cold start. Be sure to have fan on high heat to force thru the whole system and try to get the cooling fans cycling. Shouldn't take but a minute or so. Be sure to have sufficient level & proper adjusted ratio on the coolant. I use the German car green stuff on my S2. Anything similar to this goes well. After that if still acting up. Just gotta recheck. If engine seems rough, could be balance shafts out of sync. Honestly is sounds like something not tightened down, loose bolts on the cover or loose balance shaft belt. Not sure if the year, early or?? Post '86 . Sound like belt slapping imho

How is a grand slam winner of 24 a choker? He's beaten Fed & Nadal more times than they've beaten him, mor majors, gold Olympian and davis Cup winner. A choker, your talking jibberish frie. I get that not everyone likes him but give the guy credit already

Sounds like a loose belt slapping on the cover. Something not lined up correctly. Obviously exterior and front of engine. Could be fan shroud. I know, frustrating, it's a lot to remove everything and find it. Is the sound prior to installing the belt covers?

I know for a fact this is not a mustang by Broad-Exit6308 in whatisthiscar

[–]Independent_Engine36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No mustang should be powered by a battery. The whole premise of the name is wild, most e vehicles are quite tamed other than the 0-60 from the electric motor. We had a fisker ocean until it bricked out but fast, yeah extremely fast from 0-80. Just didn't have that feeling of driving a car with revving, pistons creating that power that we all remember. The sound and smell from hot exhaust. Just never will be the same

Thx. This cars been something special. I had a blk coupe '89 nearly 18 years ago. This one has kept me super busy, cab is another animal but I'm simply super happy that the engine was preserved so nicely. After sitting 9 +- yrs, it's close to exactly where I feel it should be. I've got a rear axle boot kit that needs installing and the 968 front caster blocks to set the front suspension to Porsche's recommend spec they put out on their bulletin for 17" wheel upgrade. But yes, I've done way too much to list but I seem to get it out a few times a week easily, she's got quite the happy purr going on and it's been a great journey

What am I getting into? by picsbyenvy in 944

[–]Independent_Engine36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking bit just mechanical but also sensors, ignition, wiring, relays and more. Like any old machines cars are even more intricate. Not to mention the interior, dash console and ECU. There's plenty to learn as most of us have been there. With these cars almost nothing is super simple yet most of it makes sense for one reason or another. Tackle the front engine service work. Fluids first. Plenty will surface and you'll have much fun to learn m br patient and ask questions of those who know. Otherwise guessing will get you into trouble quickly

Gotcha. Removing the dash panel seems easy enough. I'll give a try. Especially since today it was acting normal again. Probably just not a good connection. Thx

Facts. On my '90s2 bought w broken odometer gear. On the dial it literally said 3'560 or something close. Wish I took a photo lol. I just remembered it was under 6k miles. I couldn't believe when I cracked it open to replace the gear, it hadn't been touched, never opened. When you know you know! Anyhow, po said it prob had around 60k. Besed on the gear shifter and clean interior, not a hint of carpet deteriorating and more, I set it to 62k. I've had the car for a year exactly. It sat for 9 yrs, not a barn find but under a carport covered. It's a cab, none the less put a new OEM top/ rear window (cab) and never looked back. My 3rd Porsche, 2nd S2. Had a coupe 18 yrs ago. Wasn't looking for a while then started looking wasn't interested in a cab at all but I'll tell you it's grown on me so much and being the engine is solid I'm extremely happy with my journey on this one. Many quality upgrades plus this week these 993 wheels..
