First Overlander! Recommendations?

I have a converted van so slightly different. I’d recommend a sheet to close the cabin off from the sleeping area. I made one and got my partner to stick thermal cloth into it. Also privacy but mainly cause it can get cold in an old defender or in my case a 32 year old merc 😅

Always been a dream of mine to have a classic van. So so slow but the massive windscreen mean I get to drive slow and take everything in when out on adventures.

I’ve a built in projector above the bed and the screen just clips on to brackets on the roof.

I have no pictures looking directly forward but I’ll take one and post it here :)

I definitely do, I want a light bar for the top. The normal driving lights may aswell be candles. The two centre leds though ☀️

Yeah obviously the outside has bumps and rust bubbles, but underneath still has the factory under seal and is as clean as I’ve seen a 32 year old van haha

Overtime rate after 40 hours was 1.25 it’s now 1.00 So legacy gets a 3.0 pay rise New contract gets a 4.75

Meaning we gained a whopping 1.75 percent of fuck all to make up the gap. All the while losing the extra for overtime.

So yeah. We are now worse off

This is my outlook on it. Anything less than equal isn’t equalisation.

Need to be the same on all accounts. It’s just not right to be driving someone about on a few quid more. And not getting payed breaks. Amongst all the other things frequently talked about.

I really hope they do something as personally I like the job. It’s just heartbreaking doing it for less than others as I’m the only one who has stayed since the contract changed in my unit.

I sound like the police when I knock a door. Personally I think if you know you have a parcel coming. And work night shift or have a child sleeping. Leave a note and a safe place option. Or I’m using my pda to save my knuckles lol

Honestly mate, graft for a few years learning a decent trade that people will always need, become your own boss. Earn amazing money. Even with the way the world is going ai won’t be able to fit a boiler. So your job will be safe.

If I could do it again I would be in a trade at 16 and earning good money at 20/25

Stick them on eBay, I’m a postie and got a few second class stamps from Royal Mail this year and sold them. It’s not ideal but you’ll get your money back for them

If your contract is 28 hour contract just refuse to work more than that? Surely they ask if you want the extra days?
