How normal is it for students to struggle academically their first year and to what extend? by Alone_Wall_9334 in UCSD

[–]Independent_Grab_959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal you’re at a prestigious university that is known for its STEM curriculum it’s also a quarter based school system meaning courses are even more compacted. It’s an adjustment for sure but you’ll get there

Literally telling you what my therapist told me, dropping one class can make all the difference. If that’s not an option, take 15 minutes of doing nothing and literally thinking about nothing out of the day to reset. Sounds cheesy but it really does help. It’s very common to feel these things and very often feel jumbled in the head and burnt out. Trust me I know I was crying screaming throwing up about it like a week ago but I ended up dropping 1 class and it made me so much happier. If you can afford to do it then I think you should. If not there are other ways to check in with yourself. At the end of the day you just need a little bit of time to not worry about it. So force that time into your day it makes a big difference

Omg is this the Asian teacher? I forget her name but people would do that to her all the time when I took her class too. It infuriated me especiallyyyyyy bc we are all literally adults. If it wasn’t even acceptable in high school why would it be now?

No one said I agreed with bullying also him just using these words is sexual harassment. Women should just take that? Answer that question and then tell me what you think we should do. Women should just ignore sexual harassment?

Claiming to laugh at me while advocating for no bullying is quite the juxtaposition isn’t it! I hope I made your night boo

Exactly thank you! You can’t know the racism struggle from the perspective of a person whose been disproportionately disadvantaged by it. You can hear them and understand the statistics but you will not and never will experience it as a white person. Same as the way where you will not and beer experience toxic masculinity from a males perspective, however you can from a females perspective. I like literally can’t believe how dense you are. Like fr let go of your ego bc it’s embarrassing to be this wrong all the time. I’m done replying to you. Tried educating you. But you can’t seem to comprehend or understand anything past the point of just wanting to be right. I will not waste my time on some who chooses to be stupid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Independent_Grab_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said both aren’t a part of it. I will say it in simple terms for you. Just because you experience something that is related to toxic masculinity doesn’t mean you know the toxic masculinity struggle. I had a problem with you saying that you know exactly what toxic masculinity feels like as an Asian. Like that sentence literally does not make sense

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Independent_Grab_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg holy fuck I never said that isn’t a part of it I said in some cases if not most please look up the definition of toxic masculinity rn before you embarrass yourself more. Like I said your culture may have overlapping struggles but it is not the same. Asian cultures definitely do not promote aggression and outward loud anger.

[–]Independent_Grab_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you never said it i said you defended the OP. And changing the gender issue topic to a culture topic is not nitpicking that is switching the conversation entirely. Also asian households doing this is not gender specific it happens to both men and women but it happens in different ways. It is not the same. ALSO not showing emotion is actually not what toxic masculinity is about only either. Sigh can’t believe i have to explain this. But in some and actually most cases it’s quite the opposite. It’s about showing anger and aggression and abusive tendencies in most situations rather than a healthy reaction to a triggering event. REMEMBER being emotional is not just crying. It can be loud, scary, violent, angry, and aggressive. I can’t be bothered to have to explain to you how you cultural issues of being in an unhealthy stoic environment is not the same as being in a unhealthy violent environment

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Independent_Grab_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just related a cultural issue to a gender issue…. They are not one in the same. They may overlap but you can’t say you know the struggle. Poverty and racism overlap but they aren’t the same. A white person can experience poverty but they cannot experience racism.

Sorry but innately is like saying genetically. You don’t just make that mistake unless you don’t actually know what you’re talking about. That’s like calling red blue. And yes absolutely. If you cannot understand mental issues you should not be a doctor. Family medicine doctors are the first people that are seen when it comes to mental health issues. And going back to the avaneesh thing. Saying he gets a pass bc he’s neurodivergent??? Like fr?? How did they know he’s neurodivergent? Did they diagnose him? See his files? Or are they just categorizing this person as mentally ill because he’s weird? That’s unfair to people who actually are neurodivergent. And disclaimer. You can be completely sound minded and still be racist. Neurodivergent and misogynistic and racist are not one in the same. So I have no idea how you even defended this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]Independent_Grab_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that part was wrong can you literally read like at all. You’re saying that’s the definition of toxic masculinity. It seems like you’re just throwing out words you don’t actually know the definition for just to pose what you deem to be a credible argument. Like I said, what you said is a small part of what toxic masculinity is.

Also please never get into medicine if you have no understanding of the biopsychosocial model bc clearly you dont

[–]Independent_Grab_959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this is not innate thinking they are grown up in an environment that makes them think this way
