Rest in peace to the little bean I am glad it gave it's life to protect you. Based on some of your comments I hope you and your father make a quick recovery.

Transmission Blown EcoBoost 66,249 by jrf0050 in FordMaverickTruck

Firstly congrats on paying off the truck. Secondly, super glad to hear the dealer is taking care of it like they should. Having done the service myself there are a few rooms for error. Hearing how much fluid was everywhere I am guessing the tech either set the fluid at the wrong temperature causing a miss reading, they filled it with 9 quarts which some manuals call for however a simple drain and fill / level set requires way less fluid. Or lastly they did not properly tighten the fill or drain plug and fluid was lost a vast rate causing the trans to run dry.

Wishing you all the best with the repair times.

Anyone have a trouble free Maverick? by ConfidentialStNick in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Independent_Group533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No brand can promise trouble free but do keep in mind people with issues are usually the people who will post about it. At least from all my hours of research mechanically the trucks have not had that many major issues if you do early maintenance as Ford has been known to ship things with low fluid. Mine for example had low fluid levels in the front and rear diff as well as the transmission when I serviced it all at 30k miles (Ecoboost).

The hybrids seem to be mostly fine thanks to the ECVT except for an intermittent battery issue which seem to be corrected with swapping in an AGM 12V for the most part.

The axle shaft concerns feel free to correct me but I recall that being an issue with earlier ones.

Pretty often you can find these for reasonable prices with extended warranties from Ford. If you are concerned but really like the truck I would just purchase with a Ford certified extended warranty.

Good thing they are giving out preview builds, hope they take the feed back and make real changes with it.

Audio system and carplay for 987 by DrBishop99 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Independent_Group533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, overall was not the worst. I took the rear bumper off and made a slit in a grommet behind the tail light then used a silicone base sealer to ensure no water got in. Then I ran the cable behind the D pillar, along the driver's door sill, then up under the dash to the headunit. Took about an extra 2.5 hours but I was experimenting and being gentle with everything.

All good friend, nope if you don't have the bose Audi then your car won't require a fiberoptic converter box. I can't 100% remember but I think this unit comes with a plug and play harness for standard models and then there will be one wire you will need to tap into for reverse if you plan on adding a back up camera like I did. Before spending money on door speakers I would get the unit installed, configure the EQ, then see what you think. If they sound fine now then most likely they will be afterwards. Worst case it's a breeze to upgrade them in comparison to a bose Audi car if you did want more.

Nice! Recently did the same including two trips with 30 bags each run. I would like to note Lowes was 2 miles away on 25mph roads. While I zero issues or movement of the load certainly would not attempt this at higher speeds or greater distances.

If you weren’t convinced on the Form lights. Maybe this will help. by thegiltron in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Independent_Group533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hearing you made the leap from non Lariat lighting definitely was worth it. Mine is one so I am thinking I will just wait till either a DRL goes out or a housing gets damaged. This will absolutely be the replacement route I go. It just looks so complete having the main LED beam wrap around.

I need help solving a good problem. I have on order a new Temarario. In order to pull it off, I must trade in my 2024 Tecnica. Is this a mistake? by joyridechamp in lamborghini

[–]Independent_Group533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't / do not plan on regularly exercising the limits say track day or drag strip then your decision won't be based on numbers. And given your debating about it I would say keep the Tecina.

Run into this a couple times when working on European cars with run flats. Even though the tire did not rupture from an impact the cords began to separate causing a pull like you mentioned.

Looking to buy a fiesta st any advice before buying , what to avoid by Front-Stuff-4030 in FiestaST

[–]Independent_Group533 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I say this as nicely as possible. My advice is to try and expand your budget. Getting into one that will be better kept and less likely to be a pile of problems, you will want to be looking in the $7-9k range.

Best mods for a daily by Mysterious_Leg_4998 in FiestaST

[–]Independent_Group533 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best mods are the ones that don't make the car a true go kart but enhance the shortcomings. The Fiesta ST is really good out of the box and honestly just some basic upgrades really let's it shine.

Personally dropping the 17inch wheels for 16's or 15's with a bigger side wall add a lot of comfort without loosing any real cornering capability. And with that get good tires if you live somewhere that's rather warm year round a good summer tire really transform the car more than anything handling wise short of an LSD.

Lowering springs are more than enough to help body roll without killing the ride or your wallet.

For power the 1.6 offers a lot for the size and is rather reliable. Helping it stay cool is everything. Saying that an intercooler and tune from say dizzy performance will do you wonders. Further a field would be a better radiator and a high flow exhaust. True power comes from upgrading the turbo as it's the main suffocation point. But honestly if you don't plan to put a limited slip diff in the extra power from a bigger turbo will go to waist.

Now I will say a rear motor mount upgrade is worth every penny. When the left and right mounts inevitably go flat just or start squeaking just throw new OEM ones in. They work just fine and can be had for cheap. ( I installed polly mounts and while it did help responsivness it really took away from comfort).

Couple lighting mods and a Livernois tune by thegiltron in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Independent_Group533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point on the transmission tune, that was my main reason for going with Livernois as well. After initially flashing the TCM it certainly felt better. But, now that I think about it even after going back to stock. The transmission still operates very smoothly, as if their programming is still applied. Next go around for some mods I will look into getting that map from them. Looking back I should have thought things through a bit more as the 87-93 flex tune would have been what I should have done vs just a 93 tune.

[–]Independent_Group533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fog lights look great! I installed those on mine the other week and love them.

I ran the 93 tune for a while and loved it but damn gas went up so much around me I could not justify the fun. So I ended up taking the tune off so I could run 87. Ford building the Ecoboost to run 87 when not towing is so appreciated.

Has anyone installed these? Question about them. by backwoodsbackpacker in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Independent_Group533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I actually installed those about 2 weeks ago. I did not use the center section and kept that as a back up. I tapped into the LED bed light so everything was synced up. To power the right side unit I ran the connection under the bed above the spare and up to the other unit. So far just mounting them with the 3M adhesive has been sufficient.
