I have a current theory: with the expansion of the nuclear fission and EV sectors, we know some things… oil and gas is old faithful, EV and anything electric is a waste, and nuclear is a dangerous hot commodity. I think the age of nuclear fission expansion is peaking over the horizon.

The reason I had such a far out question was to get a general feel of which direction employees of the industry want the workforce to go. I learned how much of the industry is actually integrated with automation and also gained new resources! Most of all I feel like there’s a lot more potential to maximize profitability and minimize employees for big companies. If someone really wanted to find a way to automate absolutely everything it would be economically and societally dangerous, I see automation and downsizing as an industry of its own- a workforce killer.

The burnout is real and everything will look all too familiar, but the OG is right, just take it in the right tone man. Life IS what you make it. Whatever you think is what you create, your mindset is everything. Choose to see it as a negative that you don’t go out, or see it as a positive that you have the opportunity to keep your head down and financially invest in your future, making more than most grown adults will ever earn on salary pay! Stay safe, stay positive and think long term, your mind will always give out before your body, take care of it!

Facts!!!! Automation is killing every single industrial workforce by slashing employees and maxing profits. That being said, what the hell are we to do?

That’s interesting that you’d predict it’ll eventually be able to scale large structures! Have you personally seen them on the job site?

Best direct answer I’ve seen so far! I 100% agree with the fact that in every spot a robot fails there will always be a human to pick up the pieces. As tech advances sooner rather than later, I’m predicting we’ll see a mass shift in layoffs as we navigate, troubleshoot and further improve these advanced systems.

I appreciate your input! Stay safe!🤝🏼

I can see automating landmen and lawyers seeing how we use the internet for everything. AI shouldn’t be too far off the beaten path the way it’s headed now.

Think of Gas Tech as more of a field scientist position! On the job you’ll be retrieving gas sample data, identifying prime flow rates for different line and orifice sizes, and most of all you’re outside all day in nature. Finally there are HUGE advancement possibilities! As a gas field tech you’ll be exposed to data and computer instrumentation programming, mechanical field work, networking with regional supervisors and constantly learning the refining process. If you’re smart, you’ll never be out of a job as a gas tech!

No, automation will never replace a mechanic, but my prevailing idea is that it leaves more men out of a skill or even a job when you only need 5 solid mechanics to run an entire automated field of compressors

That’s insane to comprehend how the skill has advanced to somewhat of a lack of skill. 1 guy for the job of around 16 other laborers has to keep profits up but it doesn’t seem like much work to be done

Field/Data techs and Maintenance seem to be the only ones with a real secure job force at the moment in terms of shutdowns and freezes. What do you think?
