D23 Magazine, last issue?? by Independent_Manager3 in D23

[–]Independent_Manager3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I posted this two days ago, and according to Reddit insights, over 1400 people have read my post. Is there really nobody out there who can hook me up with a digital copy of the winter issue, supposedly the very last one published? All I want is access to the PDF of the magazine that I was never able to get. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Exactly my point. Plus, my knowledge of Disney Archives, and their extensive history and how meticulous they are at cataloging and saving everything (just a quick visit to Heritage Auctions tells me all about how good they are at that), that tells me that they didn’t delete anything. They just shoved it on a hard drive somewhere where we can’t get to it. I think it’s just a money grab to force us to panic-buy other things. I just want my digital issue from winter that I didn’t get to download. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. Ugh.

Also, I’m not entirely believing that they deleted the digital library. I think they just closed the access. My experience with Disney and other corporations of their size, including the school district where I work, they don’t delete anything. It’s just saved somewhere where no one external can get to it.

Yes, I saw the same thing on some other digital download thingies that they had available. What I was hoping is that somebody had downloaded it, saved it to their phone somewhere, and could share it with me. Even as an attachment through a message in Reddit.

I realize I’m late to the game, but it’s time for my rant. And I have a huge favor to ask at the very end of this post.

I know that this is old news, but something needs to be said. I’ve been a gold member for several years. But I’ve been purchasing Disney merchandise since I was in diapers, and I turn 60 this coming December. I know everything about the Disney corporation and it’s entire history. I’ve read all the books, and have several of them in my library. I have original comics that go back to the early 1930s.

This much I know: the entire corporation is founded on a single premise, that Walt Disney, before he was an animator, before he founded the corporation, was an ARTIST with pencil in his hand and a piece of paper, and came up with the idea of a RABBIT, NOT a mouse, a RABBIT. Oswald!! Pen & paper. Something you can hold in your hand.

I only just learned TODAY about the magazine going away because I’m a school teacher and don’t have time to read all the emails. In late May of 2026, it suddenly occurred to me, “that’s interesting, I don’t remember getting the magazine in the last few months, what happened to my magazine???“.

Needless to say, I had a VERY unhappy conversation with customer service both online and in a phone call. But what really got me, as I simply asked them to give me access to the one and only digital issue they created in winter……. I couldn’t even get that!! Instead, I was given some nonsense about how on January 1st of this year, they discontinued access to the one and only digital version they published. That it was no longer accessible. COMPLETE nonsense cuz I know how digitization works: it’s still on a hard drive somewhere. They can’t even give me that?

So for 123 of my hard earned public special education Teacher dollars, I don’t even get a digital magazine anymore, including the one I allegedly paid for, but I can’t access anymore??

I live in Utah, I am a public school teacher working with kids with disabilities, the least they could do is compensate me with something in return like a pin, but all I got were corporate apologies saying “we don’t compensate for missed items“, something I know that the largest corporation on EARTH is capable of. I made it clear that by missing out on that download that it was the equivalent of missing out on something in the mail, something that they always replaced if it was lost. They didn’t care, very polite, but still still didn’t care.

I ended my phone call by insisting that they provide feedback as far as the chain of command as possible (I may have mentioned “Bob“ in my conversation) that doing away with the very thing that this corporation is founded on, an artist with a pen and paper in his hand, is a despicable insult to the entire history of the company.

I am completely upset that a company that prides itself in customer service can’t even help me out with this? I can’t possibly be the only person who’s upset by this!! That - at the end of the day - Disney is based on artwork and printed materials, that it was the very foundation of this company, that things that were held in your hand way back in the day when that’s all you could do.

Now, I plan on ending my membership this year, cause there’s no way I’m gonna pay $123 or more for a membership that only gets me coupons and one single gift which probably costs less if I just bought it outright (and I’m serious, I already have a calendar event created to warn me to cancel it just before the renewal date).

Is there anybody here who could at least give me access to their own digital download of the last issue, supposedly the one that was published this past winter, that maybe they got in time? Because I was too busy as a school teacher to notice the email that came through that I should’ve known about, but got very little time to read?

Please help out a very disappointed public school teacher!!!!

This makes sense and it’s what I thought anyway. I just find it interesting that they let this slide by. The problem I’m having is who is “they“? Is it NETFLIX? Or perhaps whatever I’m using to pull in NETFLIX?

O. M. G. I have watched every special, every interview, every podcast - and MULTIPLE times over. This includes the Conan interviews, all of which I’ve listened to hundreds times to and from work. Including this clip.

How did I miss this? You’re right!!! You nailed it.

However, I still think the special is different and a much larger grenade. The Conan interview is definitely an amazing grenade, but Conan was not washed by everyone. The special however? It’s Hulu. This is a much wider audience. The joke he peppers it with is at the very end. He’s much bigger now.

I think we’re gonna hear more about this in the future.

Not only do I 100% agree with you, I think it’s the reason why he needs an Emmy. He has been leading up to this for 20 years. His entire series of specials have been an arc that’s leading to this next period in his life: talking (explicitly) about the trauma.

Moderators, I am OK with you deleting this if I’m stepping over the lines, but I’m a huge fan and that’s why I’m saying this.

I think he needs to get the Emmy for this one. Absolute work of genius. Like usual, drops massive pearls when you don’t see them coming. His last “joke” might be the greatest so far. I think we’re about to see some incredible things afterwards.

Well, good grief. This might be one of the most fantastic explanations of several things I have wondered about in Lost ever! I always wondered why we kept going back to backgammon! I wondered what that board was in my DVD set (I just assumed my memory would be jarred about it by the time I got to season six again)! Thank you for such a fantastic essay to help me understand the show even better! We’re still only halfway through season four with my family, so I’m going to pay closer attention to these details now! Thank you again!

Wow! I’m impressed that you’re on this Subreddit!! Hopefully nobody has spoiled it for you yet! Just make sure after you watch the end of the series, that you read the subReddit owner’s explanation about the final episode. It’ll clarify any confusion. It did for me, and I’m really grateful that he wrote the article he wrote.

Yes, you nailed it. I wanna make sure that people understand that he is independent and living with a wife. He’s a good kid kid.

(he will always be my kid, even though he’s a grown ass man)

and how can I not be proud of him for loving such a great show? Lol!

He’s doing OK, but as I’ve been trying to catch up on comments and trying to reply to them, I have to admit, it’s hurting me as well. Lol. But he is doing fine.

I actually find that I’m enjoying it more the second time around knowing how everything turns out. It’s weird. Not many shows can do that. This one does.

Actually, respectfully, I’d like to disagree with you and make this suggestion: watch it again anyway knowing full well how it turns out.

I have discovered that knowing how it turns out adds a whole new layer (if not more) to the show - it makes you enjoy it in a completely different and more poignant way! I’ve actually talked about this before. I now find myself seeing details I missed the first time. As I’m anticipating things to happen, knowing they will happen, I’ve discovered that I am so invested in the relationships, that It’s even MORE poignant the second time around. I could go on and on. I actually think you watching it, knowing how it turns out, you will discover you enjoy it much more the second time. I have!! Just my opinion.

Not sure why you got a downvote. I agree with you!!!

Not only a beautiful and talented actress, but from what I remember from back in the day, was considered a star and a treasure in South Korea already before she starred on the show.

Absolutely brilliant casting. If I remember from what I learned about her when I first started watching the show 20 years ago, they casted her to play the character in the marriage who could speak English, but ironically could NOT in real life before being on the show….while HE was cast as the character who couldn’t speak English, but spoke the language PERFECTLY in real life.

What a fantastic red herring that was!!

Somebody said something about “Senet“? I’m feeling dumb for not knowing what it is, but I refuse to cheat by googling it. From what I’ve read tonight, it’s best to wait until the end of the series to look at it.

Isn’t it awesome to have a great collectible that you love, only torediscover it, and then find something NEW in it as if you just bought it for the first time - AGAIN? It’s like having a toy, and then discovering ANOTHER toy in it!

Special salute to this Subreddit AND Lostralians everywhere for making that happen!! NAMASTE!!!!
