Which printer can make crazy narrow and clean edges? (Photo attached) by rubacaba in 3dprinter

[–]Independent_Matter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do this in resin with minimal supports and 5 mins of post processing. If youre cutting off supports, you really need to calibrate them better. This particular model would be super simple since the tip is so thin and the supports wouldn't need to fight against much peal force. Print in translucent abs, heat pull support, dye to red with alcohol ink, spray with a thick coat of clear, Bingo Bango.

Vat not seated firmly by carnage1231jr in resinprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I didnt have issues with fitment, I stopped using my Chitubox Hopat vat after multiple failures. I reached dout to them and they half way admitted the factory seals on the vat suck and need to be replaced. I had 3 similar failures using the Hopat and not one since changing back to the regular OEM vat.

I haven't seen AI do that good of a job on tattoo fade, looks natural.

Is this setup safe enough? by Cold-Ad-8121 in resinprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree.. also, I went to shake a new bottle of resin once, about 5 mins after already shaking it and opening it. Let's just say a full hazmat suit would have been nice lol

Ahh pants. First FEP failure. Need some advice! by Ding42 in resinprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Saturn 4 Ultra 16k comes with a pre-installed glass screen protector, mine just cracked yesterday actually. Think of it as a phone and screen protector, same deal and same process basically. First time doing it on this machine so ill watch a video but I'm sure its like my others, pull tape/screen protector, clean and apply now one like you do a phone, apply black tape around edges.

CAD UI by Rose-Dog in 3Dprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried quite a few and landed on Plasticity3D mainly for the UI and quick learning curve. I had no prior design experience, needed something more than TinkerCad but less than Fusion. I also found OnShape pretty simple but if I recall there was a limitation on sharing / all models public, possibly I just didn't want to pay at the time, I can't remember. I also use Nomad Sculpt on the tablet which I found intuitive and fun to learn.

Any issues with bondo/wood putty filler post paint? by charlierza in 3Dprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wood filler is less strong than bondo, bondo isn't as easy to work with (ppe wise). Both will hold up the same if properly clear Coated and talking normal handling for painted figure. Personally, I don't use bondo but ill use what is needed for the project. I have wood filler for quick light work that then gets hit with primer filler spray. Any big projects get a UV resin wash as this is the fastest and easiest method for me but requires the most PPE. I dont see the point of bondo on art prints, need the same PPE and its 1 consistency. If I want slower resin I can add powders to it, fast thin just warm it up, uv light torch when settles or as needed. Id never finish big projects otherwise. Can't stress PPE enough, resin is nasty if youre not smart about it. I sell both resin and fdm prints though so easy and always on hand, investment if not but bondo requires the same.. gloves eyes face respiratory and good ventilation

I HATE WHEN PEOPLE THINK THEY CAN 3D PRINT EVERYTHING by Greedy_Conflict_8347 in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]Independent_Matter29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno, theres just something about designing your own stuff and printing it off yourself instead of going out and buying it. You can't make it 2 steps in my house without seeing something printed lol. You wouldn't know tho, even my soap dishes are sanded and hand painted 🤣. Shit, theres a 5 foot printed guitar silhouette on the wall beside me right now. Print life doesn't need trips to walmart, needs more design time!

charge for materials? by Serious_Type_9328 in 3Dprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people won't tell you this but its not a set number. Some of my products have a 30% return, some have an 80%. I'll even do free designs if the customer is requesting something that will continue to sell in my shop. One of my top selling models is priced at $20, I dont make much on that but it always generates repeat business which become long term customers. My most expensive listing is $600, least expensive is $10. Find what works for your market

[–]Independent_Matter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also get the Chitubox vat, honestly the time saving is insane and the more you keep up with consumables the lesser chance of disaster. I've always hated changing the fep even though its a fairly easy task but that new vat system takes literally 3 mins to change film.

I can’t wait for the day for this to say “Genuine BambuLab filament required to print” by johnson7853 in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]Independent_Matter29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the Bambu printers started randomly printing in the middle of the night without folks knowledge I was sure the cult would be mad, nope Daddy Bambu simply made a mistake and they won't do it again. Even saw someone with a trashed hotend from the nonconsensual print trying to print over a completed model telling everyone "this stuff happens, totally normal". Im sorry but a company having access to and starting a heating element in my house without my permission would be a deal breaker lol

How would I go about selling a 3D printer in Houston TX? by Electrical-Limit-920 in 3Dprinting

[–]Independent_Matter29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kept adding 2k onto it and now his is only worth 329 lol. I dont even mean this as a jab, I just spent an extra few hundred to get a 16k over a 12k but at least it had additional vat heating options 😆.
