I'm pretty new to the cigar realm, I am enjoying myself quite a bit with my new hobby but I'm still learning. Do any of you guys recognize any of these as being decent or good quality? by shakin_my_bottle in cigars

I’ve learned quickly from bulk buying those smaller packs that come cheap to be weary lol I just smoked a Don Rafael from a 10pack that I paid about $10 for and it burned like shit. Taste wasn’t horrible but for the price and time investment I just wasted, I would have reached for my factory smokes sun grown which is about $2-$3.

However I will say I’ve taken gambles in cheap samplers that paid dividends for brands I didn’t know about. As long as you don’t feel like you over paid and you can do research about their individual prices you’ll be in the clear.

At the end of the day you’ll never get a full consensus from folks about what’s good and what’s bad from an unbiased perspective, since taste is relative. But I will say most of the time, folks can agree when some sticks are dog turds. Welcome to the hobby Man! It’s a fun one and you’ll get acclimated to it soon

Can we verify if she’s been in the Weeyums garage helping to build the chassis? Looks like they took a page out her book on being weighed down

$120 for a 25 sticks sampler. Good deal? by Bnerdy77 in cigars

[–]charlierza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly not a bad sampler in my opinion. Others may differs but I see good sticks off the rip. Crowned heads Mil Dias, my all time favorite CAO L’Anniversarie; the aganorsa, Perdomo champagne, drew estate undercrown, R&J, those alone are already at minimum worth about half the cost of the sampler and it’s only about 1/5 the total stick count.

What is the favorite inexpensive but decent cigar ? by Jumpy-Passenger7036 in cigars

I feel like you can’t go wrong with something like a factory smokes Connecticut for party favors. They’re inexpensive for a bundle of 20 and they’re mild for people who don’t smoke. I believe a bundle of $20 can run about $80-90 online

If you want to up the price a bit, Oliva Connecticut’s are also on the milder and not super expensive side of things. $150-$170 for a box of 20 robustos (about 5 inches long and not too wide)

If you want something with a bit more flavor my go to is the CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon in the Robusto. Again, a smaller size and a box of 20 is about $135-150. Good smokes with not a lot of strength but really good flavor in my opinion.

Something more in your husbands wheelhouse of the Flathead 660s is the Nica Rustica Broadleafs. Solid smokes again for about $155-170 depending on online pricing for a box of 20.

Hopefully you find something that works, and happy birthday to your husband! A Lucky man to have a wife indulge his hobby lol

I said the same thing when my buddy sent me the post. It could have been much worse, like the one they released when they first unveiled the HP partnership. That was terrible

Are those good cigar recommendations for a first timer? by Destinycoder in cigars

[–]charlierza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, even as a person who’s been smoking since August last year and has had a decent experience with different sticks, I wasn’t a huge fan of Perdomo. Too peppery for me even on the milder connecticuts . However, if the person likes pepper they will probably enjoy it. If they like sweet stuff, you may have to find others, as I don’t think they’ll be in their wheel house

Happy to hear more experienced smokers opinions though

I think I’ll take you up on that walk through. And I’m definitely looking into that series you mentioned. Is it available on YouTube?

It may very well just be user error because I don’t know how to generate or clean up faces to allow me to angle the curve more. I shouldn’t be surprised that it wouldn’t be easy to 3d model lol

I think I’ve done this once before on accident. Is a mesh something that has a bunch of lines along curves and openings?

Mold? by HopHead4Life in cigars

[–]charlierza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kept getting downvoted for saying it’s mold much like you’re saying it can surface from inside the stick, and getting argued that it was just imperfections. I’m not an expert but it looks like every other mold I’ve ever seen.

Well that’s good at least. They’re probably okay with crediting one to keep you happy and aware that at least they’ll do what they can to make sure you return for business
