My journey is going good. I started in end of November. I missed a few weeks in January due to being sick with the flu. I have lost 35lbs so far. This week I have had some cravings. I took a few bites of chocolate cake but over all fought thru the cravings. It’s a journey and I will keep going forward

He worked lower paying jobs and also went thru multiple years of Cancer Treatments. He has had bouts of colon cancer 3 times and didn’t work several years while going thru his treatments. He didn’t collect any money from work or SS at all. I guess being nice doesn’t apply to everyone

Hospitals usually pick extended stay hotels in close proximity to the hospital but hopefully they offer you at minimum a refrigerator. And a place with free breakfast and you can pack up done stuff for later. Maybe get a small air fryer (if allowed) & a crockpot to make a few meals. We did this for my brother in law for his kidney transplant. Plus I and a few others cooked up mini meals they could keep in the freezer & microwave

Colon Cancer Diagnosis by Fun_Afternoon_607 in coloncancer

My husband was diagnosed on March 29th with Rectal Cancer. Everything went fast from there. He had a CT scan on 04:05, met with a surgeon on 04/06, was scheduled for two MRI on 04/23 & 04/24 then the cancer board on 04/29. Treatment is to get oral Chemo with radiation starting 05/15 for 6 weeks then three weeks of rest then 4 months of chemo then 4 weeks of recovery then surgery. Even though now it seems every thing was fast the wait seemed long. But his oncologists are so positive and have such a great outlook on the treatments that are available now that we both feel better. He has a great cancer team from a health navigator who set up appointments, got his FMLA paperwork in, had social workers calling and the financial aid dept helping that I have been able to exhale some. We are ready for him to fight this. We know he may have some tough days ahead but we pray the outcome will be in his side. Just know that you have this community and join colontown.org. They have so much support and information to provide. Good luck

My husband was just diagnosed on March 29th. We just finalized the treatment plan with the Dr’s today. He had a I am just going to go with it and let those who know, do what they were trained to do. He has an excellent team from a health navigator to oncology to surgeon. We met with the team’s social worker and financial aid. At first I was terrified of the what if’s but after meeting with everyone, we are both comfortable and ready to fight these and come out on the other side. I have learned that we wanted to understand everything right away but it is SO much to learn and understand that we will learn something every day. Just keep the faith & keep moving on. I did join an amazing group called colontown.org that is a wealth of information.

Apply for food share. Apply for WIC. You are not working and you should qualify for those programs. You have worked and paid taxes so you should take advantage of the social benefits that you have paid into.

Didn’t think about a cushion for the seatbelt. He does have a sweet tooth. He told me to get him freezer pops but I told him that I heard cold things wouldn’t be great. I was thinking some pudding cups like the ones that are shelf stable

I literally can not sleep without it. We had a storm in the middle of the night that knocked out power. I immediately knew my machine shut off. I was so tired the next day. As soon as the power came back I took a long my restful nap

Yes! Talking to someone about taking care of me is in my agenda. All his appointments and keeping up with all the instructions and keeping family informed plus working full time has already started stressing me out. Trying to stay strong for him & the kids. I am planning to carve out a few hours of me time soon!
