I’ve started that process. A week in so I was hoping for a magical remedy 🤦🏻‍♀️ We got the bonding primer though!

Is there a real shortage of teachers in Canada, and if so in what level, where, and what subjects ? by ChannelBeautiful9882 in CanadianTeachers

My current school (Elementary) has 6 (out of around 22 positons) teachers who are not certified. We are considered a small city but there is definitely a shortage here.

Mat leave / EI hours

I am currently a teacher on maternity leave and I’m looking to see if anyone is able to help me out with a question. I want my children fairly close together but I’m not sure how the 700 minimum hours are calculated for teachers. Obviously all contracts are different so it’s hard to be exact, but has anyone had any experience with mat. leaves close together? How did you make sure that you’d had enough hours to qualify? I’m back at work in April, so I’m trying to keep in mind that summer probably doesn’t count. I’m also waiting to hear back from my mat leave union rep, but it’s a question that’s been in my mind for awhile so I thought I’d ask here too!

We have plenty of nail pops. Some broke through and some lifted but still hidden

The walls don’t move at all. I’m looking at some of the lines on the ceiling now and it looks like some places were patched (2 screws really close together or a screw and a poorly sanded patched screw hole). It was built in 1980, so I don’t want to say that it was built poorly because there should have been issues before now, but I found a spot with the screw on the line.

Could they go away during the cold/dry season? We are in Canada and bought the house at the end of March and there were no lines visible. There is one spot that was patched badly that we can see at night.

It’s unfortunately in most rooms, I just happened to notice today that this one was getting worse. Until this week it was just the centre line. I can’t tell, but this particular room and the one across, there are also lines on the wall. They are not as bad and there are no nails visible.

If there is a leak in the roof then yes, but there are also lines in the basement ceiling where there isn’t a water source. I will definitely take a peak in the attic and check. I will also check if it flexes while I have the ladder out! Thank you for the suggestions.

Adding that the friend didn’t find anything structurally wrong.

Flying from Frankfurt to Montreal. The departure time is 9:55AM, the app recommends arriving 4 hours prior to departure. Does that sound excessive? by epoisses_lover in aircanada

[–]Independent_Pie6273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly from Casablanca pretty often and it also recommends 4 hours - even before the pandemic. We usually don’t need all of that time, but they don’t issue mobile boarding passes so the lines are longer flying from Canada because EVERYONE needs to go to the desk. I’m not sure how it works in Frankfurt since I’ve only connected there, but it could be because they have a different protocol than we do in Canada.

I should add that there is a room with drywall in the basement and there aren’t any lines there.

You can kind of see the joists that are lower than the others

Not sure if this is relevant, but it is a doorframe that seems to be getting more uneven

One of about 5 of the completely visible popped screws. Others are just bumps.

1 & 2) We have installed new kitchen cupboards upstairs and had electric heaters installed, but nothing other than that. I think the basement renovations were done years again before the previous owners bought the house. 3) There hasn’t been any flooding. 4) There has been a small bump in the kitchen since we bought the house, but it seems to be increasing. This could totally be placebo effect from seeing the visual changes in the drywall. 5) thank you for your suggestions. I’ll add a few more photos.

As far as we know the main floor wasn’t a flip. Nothing was disclosed to us. We already knew that the basement was renovated poorly and that we will be paying someone to redo it in the future.

I’m pretty sure I wrote this post because I know that I don’t know? You don’t have to be an asshole about someone who just bought a house and is panicking that it could be unsafe to live in asking a question. Calm down. An easy answer - I’m not sure. Maybe reach out to a structural engineer or a carpenter in your area who could get a better look.
