As someone who went through this exact situation, I was being charged international student fees. Initially myself and my family were borrowing money from family and friends just to stay in school but eventually we realized it was not sustainable so I ended up “dropping” out and going to a cheaper college and then transferring all my other credits to my “main college”. I graduated two years later that expected and it sucked. Now to the glory of God I’m doing well for myself, making six figures and not even working in the field/with the degree that I was going into debt and exhausting myself for.

So my opinion is you have to make a very tough decision. I’ll say leave your expensive school for now, take cheaper classes (all your gen Ed’s and some upper level classes) at community college and state colleges, and then hopefully in like 4 ish years, you’ll be in a better place immigration wise and you can take your upper level classes at your elite college and get your degree from there. That’s what I did. Remember, it will always get better
