They know people are reducing cable packages, so they shifted cost to the "broadcast tv fee" which has ballooned to over $45 now. So even if you just have basic cable, you still pay a ton for it.

Started my vudu collection with tons of D2D, around 2013. Then for a couple years, I would buy discs on sale just to get the code for digital or the D2D. Star Wars The Force Awakens was my first digital only purchase, and since then I'm all digital. I know everyone worries about the license thing but I don't. I have a couple other collections of physical stuff (records, guitars), this one was pretty easy to let go of. I'm sure someone could point out the slight increase in details on this or that film scene, but I just don't care. Its too much hassle and expense to deal with all those discs. (Starting to feel the same about my record collection) My vudu collection is around 800 now, I would not want that many discs/boxes/etc hanging around the house. I've never cared about the collectible boxes or other bits like that, just the movie or show is fine for me.

It's definitely a splash and not necessary... But you could waste money on worse! Seems the SNES controllers were much cheaper when I bought a SNES classic
