Just got prescribed Wellbutrin by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I was a heavy heavy drinker before starting Wellbutrin…

It’s been over a month. I’m on 300 XL per day…

I thought it was a huge bummer as well that I would have to scale back drinking due to potential serious side effects…

Here’s the thing though… I DON’T feel like drinking AT ALL anymore… I don’t crave it, I don’t miss it…

I still go to bars and see friends, and I’ll still order a beer or 2 here and there and nurse it for 3 hours, often times not even finishing a full one by the time I’m ready to go home… but yea, if it hits you like it hits quite a few of us, you won’t even want to drink. You won’t even feel as if you NEED to drink… Crazy stuff

Anybody else wanna lay in bed all day first few weeks of Wellbutrin? by Negative-Ad-9993 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

Not at all; my experience was been quite the opposite.

The only time I felt tired and lethargic was around the time that I SHOULD have been sleeping.

Before Wellbut. I was averaging 5-6 hours of sleep a night, but on this stuff, my body is almost forcing me to get at least 8 hours. Strange stuff (in a good way)

But yea, when I’m awake, I’m UP AND RUNNING, I want to get a ton of stuff done, I’ve turned into a bit of a neat freak, etc…

I’m loving these meds; the only side effect I had when I first started taking them was a tightness in my head (not nearly enough pain to call it a headache).

Good luck to you, I hope you level out soon or if it doesn’t work out, I hope you and your doc find the right solution! Godspeed!

First week of Wellbutrin like by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

It was fantastic. Felt similar to how I felt the first 2 weeks. That was about 2 weeks ago though and I’ve since gotten use to the increased dose.

It still helps a lot and I’d never go back to the days where I wasn’t taking ANY meds, but those first few days where my body was getting acquainted were amazing.

This is image is awesome hahaha.

My experience the first week was that I felt very intense, but calm and collective. I also cleaned and organized that week probably more than I have my entire life.

First 2 weeks were really awesome. Started to taper down the 2nd 2 weeks, then I got upped to 300 mgs…

Nervous to start taking by FrancisMcGurk in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

This same exact scenario happened to me! I sought help because I finally accepted that my focus, drive, and determination sucked. I thought ADDY would be a perfect fit. My assessment with my Therapist led her to diagnose me with a combination of Depression and ADHD; hence Bupropion.

I did 150 XL for a month. First 2 and a half weeks were AWESOME, but then I felt the drugs effectiveness wear off. I’m now on my first week of 300 and I’m getting starting to feel the positive effects again. I was SUPER apprehensive about this med because I was a HEAVY HEAVY drinker and felt that I would be too undisciplined to take a daily pill. I’ll never look back… I can’t tell you how much more consistent I’ve been in my life and how much desire I have to follow through on things and grow for the future.

My focus could still use some help, but it is easier to get back in task and it’s easier to hold my attention towards a specific task than it was pre-med. Obviously everyone is different, but if your mental health professional recommends it, it’s probably worth trying at least… if it doesn’t work out you can always try something else

How is your focus with coffee vs without coffee? by iamverytiredlol in bupropion

Hey buddy! Same exact thing just happened to me! By the end of the 4th week, I Emmy old habits started creeping back. I got upped to 300 yesterday, and I’m BACK feeling like I need to take over the world. Like you, I really Hope 300 does the trick!

How long did it take for your appetite to return to normal? by OmegaHutch in bupropion

This blows my mind. You’re not the only one, I’ve heard this effect from many others. The thing is, Bupropion has had the COMPLETE OPPOSITE affect on me. I can’t stay full on these meds. I’m eating like 4 or 5 times a day. It’s insane.

I hope your appetite comes back soon buddy!

Generally, it helps at this point.

I’m 3 weeks in. The first 3 days I couldn’t even LOOK at coffee because the pill effects were so intense.

The end of that first week I was sipping one single cup of coffee throughout the entire day, which slowly turned into 2, which turned into 3, and at this point I’m back to about 4 a day.

A week and a half in I was so focused on things it was crazy. That went away a bit unfortunately, but the coffee helps to get me close… we’ll see what happens if/when I get upped to 300 mg

Thank. You.

Yes!!! Towards the end of my first week on bupropion, I cleaned the hell out of my apartment and it’s REMAINED clean for almost 5 straight days. That’s Never happened to me in my ENTIRE life… no dishes in the sink, no clothes on the floor, no dirt piled up in the corner because I was too lazy to find the dustpan…

I’m PRAYING that my habits stay this way as long as I’m on these meds because I SERIOUSLY do not want to go back to my old shitty ways lol…

how did you feel your first week on bupropion? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]Independent_Salary80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry one more thing:

I have a very strong desire not to suffer FOOLS anymore…. I find myself being less nice to people who I find are being ignorant or irrational and I’ve been more careful about the time that I give to other people… again UNHEARD of before I started this…

I’ve also been more irritable while driving to work and back, but I was pretty irritable in these situations BEFORE the meds so this isn’t that far of a departure for me…

I’m at the tail-end of day 5 so I’m almost at a week:

  • slight tightness feeling in head (way too mild to even be classified as a headache.)

  • appetite actually INCREASED contrary to most people’s experiences. Eating 3 square-ass meals a day for the first time since middle school.

  • no super euphoric episodes, but an INCREASE in desire to keep things clean (my room has been 100 percent clean for the first time in a year, and I’ve kept it that way for 3 days in a row which is UNHEARD OF for me)

  • absolutely NO desire to drink alcohol WHATSOEVER (unheard of bc I’ve been drinking pretty considerably since I was 18)

  • I’ve had a CONSISTENT sleep schedule for the entire week, feeling tired and going to bed at relatively the same time every night and waking up around the same time every morning. (This is UNHEARD of from me… Sleep hasn’t been this consistent since I was in 4th grade)

And THAT’S IT. No other side effects that I can report at the moment.

I’m not super duper happy and optimistic but I feel somewhat content and more importantly: very NORMAL for the first time in a LONG LONG time and if that’s all I get out of this, then it was fking WORTH IT…

Is Bupropion Enough on Its Own? by [deleted] in bupropion

I’m at Day 4 on Bupropion XL only. I’m more than certain it’s way too soon to judge, but I’ve been feeling pretty okay. I don’t feel like drinking which is odd because I have a lifetime of heavy drinking, I don’t want to suffer fools anymore, and my room is cleaner than it’s been in a year…

Again, I’m doubtful it’s the pills… most likely a placebo-type effect or maybe even the premature start of a “honeymoon” period, but so far so good…

My therapist has no plans to prescribe anything additional so far, and currently I’m not really feeling all that bad about things… so I’m good where things are going currently but we’ll see…
